Thank you to Lorna and Eric for another fantastic stay.
Stayed for 7 nights in Mount Lodge, previously stayed in Roebuck on 3 other occasions. Both of these lodges have hot tubs.
The lodges are very, very clean and tastefully decorated.
Well equipped kitchen with all mod cons.
Large bathrooms with plenty of towels, robes and slippers.
Hot tub is clean and checked daily by Lorna, which is very reassuring.
Nothing seems too much trouble for Lorna, she is the perfect host who wants nothing more than for you to enjoy your stay.
Wow what an amazing cottage to stay in that beautiful land. Lorna was amazing..very helpful and the cottage very very clean new and cosy.In the nearby we saw deers and rabbits. We flew from Malta and hope to come again one day. Thanks again Lorna xxx
I gave a full review in March 2015. There has been no deterioration in the accommodation in three years. It is superbly maintained and spotlessly clean. Lorna is still a wonderful host, going out of her way to help with the little details. This is a fantastic place for a long weekend or more. Can't wait for my next excuse to visit.
I booked all 3 lodges for my sister's hen do for a group of 8 ladies and it was absolutely perfect.
The lodges were extremely spacious and decorated to a very high standard. They were all wooden inside with a light and airy feel to each. We were all pleasantly surprised with the size of the lodges and how luxurious they felt. It really did feel like such a treat to be staying there.
The kitchen in each was equipped very well with utensils and crockery, and all the cooking essentials you wouldn't think to buy beforehand like tin foil etc. The presentation of the tea towels rolled up in the drawer and the flowers on the dining table really added that special touch that you want when you're away for a celebratory weekend. Having a dishwasher was brilliant and saved so much time for us all, everyone was very grateful for that! The dining table was big enough for us all to sit round for activities or meals which meant we could all congregate in 1 lodge during the day.
The bedrooms and bathrooms are absolutely beautiful with more than enough space. The beds werre lovely and comfortable, with quality bedding and they are very, very clean. There were rails to hang our clothes up in the 2 first floor bedrooms, and a wardrobe in the ground floor bedrooms. There were enough sockets in each of the rooms to use the bedside lamps, and use hairdryers/straighteners on an evening. The décor in the bedrooms was lovely and the little touches of scatter cushions and rugs made them feel very cosy. There were 2 robes and slippers in each room for the use of the hot tub and to relax in... all the ladies loved being in these over the weekend! The bathrooms definitely had that wow factor!! The ensuite upstairs in each lodge had a huge free standing bath in the centre of the room, with double sinks and a very large walk in shower. The bathrooms were definitely a favourite of ours! The downstairs bathroom was also very large and had everything you would want. There were more than enough towels provided for us, which were soft and always very clean.
2 of the lodges had hot tubs towards the rear, with the views looking out over the fields, then onto the mountains. 1 was enough for us as we all used the middle lodge on an evening. The hot tub was immaculately clean, and always at a perfect temperature. They were a great size, and we all managed to sit in and enjoy the starry sky. Lorna checked the hot tubs every morning for us to make sure they were all in order.
There was ample parking outside each of the lodges, with two cars at each. The grass and surrounding areas of the lodges were extremely well looked after and it was very clean. Each lodge had its own recycling bins inside the little utility near the side door, and the bins were neatly tucked away.
The lodges are extremely private and we all felt very safe staying there. Even walking between them on an evening, with very little light was not a problem. All the exterior doors of each lodge lock when they are shut, which was definitely a key point as you always felt very safe - (we did however once lock the key in the lodge, but Lorna was always available on the phone and came straight over to let us back in). There was very little noise during the day and it was silent on an evening.
If we had to pick anything that was a little niggle then the only 2 points that were raised whilst we were there over the weekend were:
The lighting at the hot tubs and surrounding area was very limited. The steps into the the hot tubs weren't lit directly which for some may be of concern when they are wet.
Also, when walking from one lodge to another in slippers or smaller slip on shoes, you would need to go round on the tarmac or follow the path along the outside of the lodges if the grass was wet. Little fairy like stepping stones across the grass would be beneficial for groups so you can just cut across. Both the points about the lighting outside and stepping stones across would be beneficial if you have exclusive use of all 3 lodges, but I also appreciate if you just had the use of 1, and there was another party next door you may not want lighting on your hot tub or stepping stones joining you to the other lodge.
The lodges completely surpassed any of our expectations and we were over the moon with everything. Lorna was so welcoming and helpful, and we could reach her whenever we needed to. Lorna and Eric should be very proud of what they have created, Mountwood is very special. The balance of relaxtion and space/facilities for activities was perfect. Our hen thoroughly enjoyed the luxury and it was a brilliant way to start the countdown to the wedding.
We will all definitely be back at some point and I'm sure we'll all be talking about the lodges for a long time.

You know you've stayed somewhere special, when you are very sad to leave. We had no expectations ahead of our stay, other than the need for a place to unwind and recharge our batteries. Mountwood Lodges did that and so much more! Peaceful, secluded and built to a very high quality, Roebuck lodge was ideal for our 4 nights away. The super king sized bed was super comfy and the en suite bathroom was both a visual and physical treat. Lorna was very welcoming and friendly and had the Lodge already warmed up for our arrival. The welcome Basket of M&S goodies was the icing on the cake, with the chilled bottle of wine very much appreciated as we settled in. It is ideally located for a 5 minute trip to Auchterarder for shopping or 15 minutes to the City of Perth should you wish. Stirling, Edinburgh or Glasgow are all accessible within an hour should you wish to visit. The Hot Tub was pure bliss despite the outside temperature dropping to minus 2, and was well used by us on a daily basis. The 2 Walk in Showers were perfect to rinse down afterwards and the huge bath in the en suite bathroom was perfect for a romantic evening. I could say so much more, but I think its best to leave it with, we WILL be back.
Absolutely amazing, definitely worth 6/7 hour drive! Everything is just how it’s presented, brilliant owners. Worth every penny:-)
