“The Perfect Holiday Home”

This is one of the best self catering places I have stayed at so far. Not only is the property beautiful, comfortable, well located and well appointed, the owners have anticipated all the little things needed for a great stay and have provided them. Unlike most self catering properties that literally provide the property and nothing else, this one is a fully stocked home so that all you have to do is to bring yourself and not worry about having to provide your own washing powder, loo rolls, hand soap, etc. Everything is spotless and in perfect working order - this holiday home truly combines rustic rural living with high technology and all modern conveniences. The way the place has been furnished shows how intuitive, considerate and generous the owners are.

The two bedrooms are at opposite ends of the house, with the living/kitchen/dining area in the middle, so it would be perfect for a family with children. In our case it was just myself and my husband since we like to have our own separate bathrooms wherever we go. Both the bathrooms in this property are spacious and beautiful, one with a bathtub and small shower cubicle and the other without a bathtub but with a larger shower. The open kitchen is modern and has everything you need to cook a meal - we loved it so much that we ended up eating in way more nights than we had originally intended. Combined with the fabulous Gloagburn Farm Shop nearby with its great selection of groceries and luxury foodstuffs, cooking for ourselves during our stay was a real pleasure. The owners even gave us carrots and cucumbers from their own poly tunnel, a gesture we appreciated greatly.

The property has a large, beautifully landscaped and manicured garden, and the surrounds are green, peaceful, and a joy to behold. This is a perfect place to relax, recharge and feed your soul (and your stomach).

We spent a memorable week at this wonderful holiday hideaway. The accommodation was perfect. It is clear that the owners have spent a lot of time and effort setting up and maintaining the cottage to such a high standard, true to it's eco credentials as well.
We breakfasted each morning to the sound of skylarks and yellow hammers and many more beautiful bird songs. Walks from the garden gate take you around the estate with wildlife to see at every turn. The views were breathtaking.
Many thanks to Lisa and Jamie for helping as get so much from our week at The Retreat.

A wonderfully appointed, peaceful property which acts as a perfect base for exploring the surrounding area. It strikes a perfect balance between contemporary and cozy.

We travelled with children aged 9 and 7 and the secure garden was an ideal space for them to safely burn off some energy after a day of sightseeing. They thoroughly enjoyed their time there.

There are plenty of great walks directly from the property and a fabulous open fire by which to warm up by upon return.

I can't recommend The Retreat highly enough.

“A great hideaway with superb views and top class renovation to make for a luxury stay.”
Reviewed 4 January 2015 for a stay in December 2014

This cottage is superbly appointed and the owners add some lovely touches to make you feel very welcome. The ground source heating is a particularly nice feature, meaning you came home to a really cosy feel everytime. Lighting up the log fire on a cold winters' night was great too!
TV and WiFi access are laid on and the two bedrooms are spacious and extremely comfortable with great storage. The views are stunning across a wide glen with hills in the distance. It's hidden away down a farm track but not too far to drive to nearby Auchterarder and with easy access to the A9 for Perth or Glasgow. Hosts are very friendly and approachable, I would highly recommend this place.
