“Beautiful Hotel - Top Marks to this Hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 April 2014

It is not very often you can stay in a hotel that you have never stayed in before and there is absolutely NOTHING to complain about. We stayed at this hotel on 24th April for one night as we were on business in Scotland. The hotel is first class. The rooms are unbelievable. Very very clean and spacious. The bathroom was stunning with a huge bath, products and fluffy towels. The robes were the most luxurious I have ever had in any hotel. The bed was huge and extremely comfortable. The Smart TV and the complimentary Starbucks coffee/machine added that touch of luxury.

We ate in the restaurant on the evening we arrived and the food was excellent. The staff were very helpful/friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast next morning was a full Scottish breakfast and the Chef needs to be complimented on his breakfast as it was very tasty and filling.

There is no more praise I can give this hotel except to say that if you are in that area this is the only place in my view to stay. You will NOT be disappointed. Well done Cairn Lodge for a wonderful stay.

We really enjoyed our stay at Cairn Lodge, a beautiful spacious room and huge bath. We had a fabulous evening meal once we got moved to a quieter table, (didn't enjoy having a 6 year old running about at 9pm with parents shouting her ), staff should really have sorted this out as the noisy parents were seemingly regulars and guests often asked to be moved away from them.
Breakfast was delicious only to be let down by over cooked black pudding, obviously kept warm for too long and had dried out. This would not put me off though as we really had a delightful stay and will definitely return.

Quiet relaxed boutique hotel. Modern decor, very clean and had a personalised feel. House champagne and chocolates were very pleasant. Wine list with evening meal limited but very good. Gran Reserve Rioga £40 but worth every penny. All meals were excellent. Highly recommend for a quiet break.

Just back from a one night stay DB&B at the cairn, this place is just a different class, decor is pure opulence, with a keen eye for detail and customer comfort, the staff are friendly and nothing is too much to ask for. Room was gorgeous with a large double bath. We had lunch and dinner in the grill room which was well presented and tasted better than it looked and it looked spectacular! The tables were spacious and the chairs comfortable with the shape of them giving an illusion of privacy, everything about this hotel screams luxury and it was well worth the price we paid which was a little more than normal but not what I would consider expensive.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone you will not be disappointed!

Room Tip: Would ask for a room on the opposite side from the kitchen to avoid the extractor fan noise.

After turning up without a booking the hosts were incredibly generous in accommodating me. They put me in the Snug, this had a very nice homely feel about it and was very well presented all round with good Internet connection (free) and nice snacks available (also free), including some awesome carrot cake outside the rooms. Any enquiry put to the owners was kindly and carefully dealt with and they both had a lovely caring attitude about your day. The breakfast is famous, talk around the town for excellence. I had several and have to say that I completely agree, stayed in many hotels and more often skip breakfast completely, here that just isn't an option. Highly recommended to stay at the Cairn for sure x

My wife and I have just returned from two nights at this lovely hotel. How we wish it had been two weeks! From the moment we arrived we were made to feel special by the friendly and welcoming staff. The modern clean interior of the reception area, dining room, bar and bedroom all appealed to us. The bedroom had everything one could wish for and the bathroom was out of this world. I particularly appreciated the free Wi-Fi, especially when I was charged recently at another well-known five star establishment! Our experience in the dining room could not be faulted either. There is an extensive menu and the food and its' presentation is of a high standard. The cooked breakfast that I enjoyed on both mornings was the best I have had in a long time - deliciously fresh ingredients cooked to perfection. Definitely somewhere to return to!

We had a fantastic stay on Saturday night at this stunning hotel. The staff (in particular Laura) are a credit to the establishment and are extremely welcoming and efficient. The intimacy of this hotel really stood out for us and because it only has 15 rooms the staff are extra attentive, so refreshing compared to larger hotels where you are anonymous. We stayed on the romance package and were allocated room 5 which was a fantastic treat for our wedding anniversary. The champagne (Laurent Perrier) was great and the chocolate dipped strawberries were perfect. The room was very relaxing and had everything you could possibly need. It is extremely well designed and the decor is very modern and tasteful with good quality furnishings and linens. The toiletries were from The White Company and fitted in nicely with the monochrome theme.

Dinner in the restaurant was lovely, very comfortable chairs and high end crockery and cutlery. The menu has an extensive choice. We shared the steak board for two which was cooked to perfection and the hand cut chips were delicious. I was far too full to have dessert but my husband managed one! He chose sticky toffee pudding which is his favourite and he declared it one of the best! The restaurant was very peaceful and the service attentive yet unobtrusive. We were left alone to relax after our meal and did not feel rushed in any way to vacate our table despite being one of the last remaining diners.

We then retired to the bar, which is also decorated to a very high standard. The bar man was very friendly, as well as being good at his job. I would highly recommend the Hot Tub Martini!

Breakfast the next morning was also very good. Juices, cereals, pastries, fruit and yoghurt etc and are all self service. You then choose from a large choice of cooked items which are freshly cooked to order, so much nicer than a buffet breakfast.

Overall, we would not hesitate to return to this hotel and were extremely impressed with everyone and everything during our stay. Well done Cairn Lodge!
