“Lovely stay”

We were offered a stay at the Cairn Lodge as an alternative to the Colessio which did not open in time for our stay.Although disappointed about the Colessio stay ,The Cairn Lodge was wonderful food was great and staff could not do enough to make sure our stay was more than enjoyable.Yes the room was a bit small but was everything we needed ,the shower was great and the bed was very comfortable.I must mention Nicole who went out of her way not just for us but for others in the hotel she was brilliant. If I had one complaint it was to hot in our room as no air conditioning, this would not normally be a problem in Scotland, but it was very hot.Even a fan would have helped .

Room Tip: we were in room 10 it was long and narrow but very well appointed

We stayed at the Cairn Lodge Hotel as a replacement for our stay at Hotel Colessio Stirling. Unfortunately the Colessio was unable to open for our planned stay, and an alternative was offered in the form of the Cairn Lodge Hotel.

Thankfully our stay proved to be relaxing and staff made us feel very welcome. The bottle of champagne when we arrived in our room was appreciated! Additionally our room was very nice, with an excellent meal in the Grill Room on the Friday evening.

Would say that perhaps bookings should not have been taken for Colessio given the Building Control and not been granted, however the replacement accomodation provided more than made up for the disappointment of not staying in the Colessio.

Having dined here in the past and really enjoyed our meals my partner and I decided to have a meal here on Saturday. Upon being seated it took ten minutes for someone to bring us menus despite there only being one other table occupied at the time. After ordering it took 50 minutes for our food to be brought to the table, in this time the table beside us which was seated at the same time as us had had two courses! My partners £30 t-bone steak was full of fat and cooked rare rather than the medium rare he had requested. On cutting into my steak pie I found it was absolutely freezing cold in the centre and my vegetables were rock solid. I complained and was promised a fresh pie. Half an hour later my partner had long finished his meal and I still had not had my meal. At this point I decided to leave without having had my meal. Not one member of staff in this time had apologised or gave me any indication as to how long my meal would be. Terrible, we won't be back.

Unfortunately we were not impressed with Cairn Lodge Hotel. It is pretentious in décor but doesn't deliver. Over promises and underperforms. We had read on trip advisor that room 9 was to be avoided because it was very small. When we booked we specifically asked not to have this room and they confirmed that we would not have it. We also asked for non- allergic pillows. When we booked in we were told we were in room 9. We were given another room when we pointed out our requests but the non-allergic duvet was not available as they only have one in the hotel. I asked if we could at least have a sheet in between us and the duvet but this did not happen and my husbands eyes and chest were affected by the morning even though he slept with his day clothes on for protection. It was too short staffed, we never saw a manageress or anyone in charge but we would like to thank Stephanie who was a waitress for her help and Elaine who was the housekeeper who sorted the duvet for the following night. We were nearly bounced when booking for the evening meal on Saturday because there was a party in. However, when we stressed that we were residents we were told that we had to eat at 6.00pm before the party arrived. The new room was also pokey because they had a 6ft bed which gave very little room for us to move around. The bedside lamps looked very posh in silver and black but they flickered and sometimes went off when I was trying to read. This was supposed to be a romantic weekend and the Champaign and strawberries were a treat. The food was good but you had to choose carefully if you wanted a balanced diet. We were there when camelface003 was there and I can vouch that the car park was certainly not full but we enjoyed the baton change which was a bonus.

Room Tip: We did not see or find a good room but some other guests told us the family room was good.

The Queens baton relay went through Auchterarder today at 11.30 and passed the entrance to the hotel. Despite some of our support group having morning coffee in the hotel we were asked to move our cars from a fairly empty car park. Not very welcoming and certainly didn't encourage us to return for lunch.

We stayed for just one night on 29th June. The hotel is small, but in a pleasant location, very conveniently situated just off the A9, within walking distance of Auchterarder village. The ultra modern predominantly black boutique style decor, while not exacty to our own taste was tastefully done and all the fittings of a very high quality. We stayed in Room 1 on the ground floor, which was very spacious and extremely comfortable, with a very large, luxuriously appointed bathroom, double bath and walk in shower. Agree with the previous reviewer that the food was nothing out of the ordinary, but plenty of reasonably priced items to choose from the menu and everything was freshly cooked. My only gripe was that we pre-booked a dinner package at £25 per head and were told by the waiter that the inclusive dinner package includes everything on the menu, which it didn't. Our own fault for not reading the small print, as when we checked out we discovered that the pre-booked dinner package does just buy £25 per head credit to spend in the dining room, so unless you intend to select the most expensive items off the menu it would be more cost effective to just take the bed and breakfast option.

Room Tip: Room 1 was on the ground floor, very spacious and quiet with a lovely large bay window overlooking t...

The manageress Laura is doing an amazing job! She seemed to be working 24/7! The location of the hotel is great for visiting the lochs within easy reach. The hotel decor is contemporary but a little too "bar/ lounge style" making it feel a bit cold. All the staff were helpful and friendly and in general we had a super time. My major gripe would be that the food didn't match the standard of the decor. It wasn't terrible but it was very ordinary and uninspiring.

Room Tip: Room 7 is quite spacious with a nice little sitting area and views over the garden.
