We have been going to the Crieff Hydro for 9 years, staying as a couple and then with children.
There's plenty to do as I'm sure other people have written about.
The hotel itself is beautiful and always clean. I love the Winter Gardens cafe were you can sit and read and just relax and look out over the beautifully kept gardens.
The included childcare at Big Country is excellent and my children have always had a brilliant time, although we've never put them in for the full sessions.
Sports facilities are excellent. It was raining and we wanted to kick a ball around with our young children so they let us use a squash court for free. The swimming pool is too cold.
The rooms are big and clean.
The self catering cottages are BRILLIANT. We have stayed in both the chalets and cottages and both have been wonderful. The 5 star chalets are just lovely.
The only thing that lets Crieff Hydro down is the food. The chicken salad sandwich I had in the Winter Gardens was awful and the breakfast in the hotel is never as good as it could be.

Would I go again? YES but always to have dinner/lunch elsewhere.

been going to Hydro for years now. We go 3 times a year. Excellent facilties. Been reading some of the neg comments and must say they are really off the mark. From one complaint about plastic shower curtains to having to stand wet in a pool shower changing area. Grow up and get a life. sorry but comments like that about this hotel really wind me up. You must be the same people who I saw complaining because the staff were vacuuming outside their room at 1100am !

I go for the gym, swim and hill running. No kids now but when they were younger and going with us they were well catered for.

Restaurants cater for all sorts.

Room Tip: standard rooms tend to be at the back where you can hear the air con working.

We arrived and were subjected to a catalog of errors - Paid £628 DBB 2nights 2 adults 2 teenagers - Booked executive room with interconnecting door to keep my eyes on my 15 and 12 year old sparring partners/brothers. Room had no interconnecting door - called reception and was assured I just couldn't see this door and we would be joined by receptionist to point me to the invisible door - laughable - As suspected on her arrival at room the comedy moments just added up as indeed there was NO adjoining door. Moved rooms - to a family room with adjoining door - room larger but not finished to the higher standard of the executive rooms we had booked. Room 2 had a fly party going on in it as it was above kitchens and windows left open by cleaning staff- we had to leave room whilst flies were exterminated and boys safe from fumes. At this point we are in hotel for 2 hours and still unable to relax due to hanging around for things to be resolved We dined in the Miekle - delicious - great service. We had prepaid for 4 adults although my 12 year old ate from the mini munchers menu which is considerably cheaper - shocked to discover we were charged for extra chips with his mini muncher main. Requested rooms be serviced - bed made up but cups left with setting dreggs and no clean glasses or coffee/milk refills. Called reception they sent a girl to the door who said "Do you want your cups washed?" EH YES !!!!!! To add to our annoyance we got 2 washed cups no clean glasses and no coffee reill - this point I've given up spoke with Stuart Cameron - Duty Manager - Explained all of above - Should mention we came to relax - That evening at dinner offered a complementary round of drinks on reflection - a drop in the ocean !!!Oh also charged for the news paper that was part of the package and only received one morning. Anyway back home and in need of a luxury break as first booked . SEGWAY fantastic even at £120 for 4 for 1 hour - I grew up, coming to the Hydro with family most years, this was an experience I wanted to share with my children - sadly it's no longer there - the attention to detail -I'm fearful the Hydro has outgrown itself...... I could compare it to Premier Inn with the price difference we could have eaten wherever we wanted, taken part in many activities and still had change left over in my well serviced room !!! Sorry Hydro I won't be recommending you

We are regular travellers to the Hydro and have just returned from our most enjoyable holiday yet.

From the moment you arrive you really are treated like guests. Nothing is too much trouble for anyone and if we had any slight niggles they were always sorted our immediately - and with a smile.

We travelled as a family of four with 2 sets of grandparents joining us this year. We tried all the different restaurants in the hotel/MurrayPark but preferred the Brasserie for its more "cooked to order" offering and lively buzz.

There is an incredible amount of things to do - and we simply didn't have the time to try half of them. This year we went horseriding, quadbiking and hired the boat for an hour on the loch - trying the ringo's and banana boat. There seemed to be more free things to do this year such as the tramploine and bouncy castle.

The BigCounty Club is a professionally run set up with so much variety of activities for the children to try. You get a weekly breakdown of things for each 3 hour session which were imaginative, fun and often different to anything they had tried before.

There is never a dull moment for anyone at any age at the Hydro. The daily activity newsletter is fantastic as it enables you to plan your day and get involved with as much or as little as you like. Seeing your grandparents aged 80+ trying the Sedgeway's after breakfast in the Ballroom is quite a sight..

We have all already booked to come back next year - half the enjoyment is planning things to do when you get there.

Thanks again to everyone at the Hydro. The service and upbeat nature of all the staff in the hotel was fantastic and i can't recommend it enough.

Gosh CJACKO, we were all exhausted just reading your review! What a fantastic time you all had at the Hydro and there’s even more for you to discover next time. We’re pleased to hear that you’re coming back for more fun and games, when we'll happily suggest more exhilarating activities for your grandparents to try!

Stayed here with family. Brothers, sisters, parents, nieces and nephew . Everyone had a great time tried the high ropes, golf, low ropes, spa, bowling, badminton and table tennis. Dinner in the Meikle was great and we were able to bring or own cake to celebrate a special birthday. Breakfast big enough to keep you going all day.
