We visited with our 3yo and 1yo and the in-laws for two nights. We had a two room suite which was nicely decorated. We had to ask to change rooms as there were three stairs up to the room which without a stair gate were a bit dangerous with our adventurous 1yo. This was done very quickly and without problem which was great. The hotel caters for kids and adults alike, it has the feel of a boutique hotel and spa facilities so you don't feel like you are staying in a family hotel which is nice but there is so much to do for the kids and you don't feel guilty about your kids running about and making noise as there are so many families there. The kids loved the soft play and pool area although it would be great if the kids pool was a little bigger as it gets busy. The in laws enjoyed sitting in the winter garden and the adults only pool. Breakfast each morning was great. Dinner you definitely need to book and there's really only one informal option for the kids which has a good kids menu and a good variety of meals, however if you were staying for awhile it might feel like your meal options were limited. We stayed in the midst of winter on a snowy few days so didn't get the chance to explore the outdoor facilities which looked great. Thought it was good value for money considering the standard of the hotel and the facilities. We will definitely go back and would recommend to anyone looking for a short break with their children.

This is a really good place to bring the wee ones for a break and this is it's best selling point.
The food in the Meikle is good but not brilliant and there's not a lot of it. The Brasserie was better but on this occasion, the service wasn't great but that's the first time it happened so no complaint.
Choice of booze in the bars is excellent, with Harviestoun beers particularly good.
The rooms are quaint and well appointed, haven't been in one without creaky floorboards but this adds to the character.
The rooms are not air conditioned and can get hot and stuffy, even in Winter and the windows can only open a few inches.
Strangely I've never had a room with a working heated towel rail, even after asking for them to be checked out. Not a big issue though.
The silly points; why oh why aren't toiletries replenished daily? This really annoys me and I don't see any sense other than penny pinching, not a good feeling to get especially as it is a bit on the pricey side anyway.
The same applies to water, no replacement, why? The tea and coffee is replenished!

Stayed in a 3 bedroom cottage for 8 people with 6 adults, 2 babies and a toddler. Good sized kitchen and dining area and each bedroom had an ensuite which was perfect! The lounge area was a bit of a squeeze when we were all there and each and every upstairs floorboard creaked which made trying to be quiet round sleeping babies difficult! But overall excellent facilities and only a 20 min stroll to the hotel.

The facilities at the hotel were excellent, we used the brasserie, winter garden, swimming pool, soft play and beauty salon. The boys went air rifle shooting which they said was great fun and value for money.

A great trip!!

Many thanks for your top score review, littlescot. We're really chuffed to hear how much you and your family enjoyed your self catering stay (creaky floorboards aside!). Hope we'll see you all again soon.

We finished off a 6 night break with 2 nights in the Crieff Hydro, and we certainly saved the best until last. It was perfect from the time we checked in until we checked out.

The hotel looks fantastic on arrival and the reception staff took the time to explain the layout of the resort fully. We had booked a "Leigh Signature" room. This had its own parking space outside the building. The room was massive, modern and clean. The bathroom was huge with a large bath and separate shower. We went to use the leisure facilities that afternoon. The only down side is that the pool is open to non-residents and it was too busy, with swimming lessons going on at the same time.

That night we ate at the Meikle Restaurant. The meal was great in portion size and taste. Breakfast the following morning was fresh and there was plenty of choice. I had booked massage treatments for my wife and I (book well in advance if possible) and it was very relaxing. Afterwards we paid £7 each (£10 through the leisure reception) to use the Victorian Spa. This is for adults only and is the most relaxing place I have ever been. That night we ate at the bistro. The dining was far more informal but the food was still of an exceptional standard. We had another great breakfast and a smooth check out.

If you are thinking of buying a snack pack or a fruit plate, it's more of a gesture rather than value for money.

This was our second stay wiyh family and young grandchildren, and again we rented one of the extremely well appointed houses in the delightful hotel grounds. The hotel is huge and the facilities for children absolutely first class, but apart from the cosily intimate little bar and adjacent dining room the whole place was a bit barn-like, and we were not impressed by the food.
The golf course whilst hilly was full of character and the surroundings quite spectacular.

Fantastic hotel stayed for a night in the Leigh double room type it was very modern and had a high end finish. We opted for the romantic package with champagne chocolate and some snacks in the room on arrival and a pass for the Victorian spa.

We ate at the Meikle which had great food and service the piano bar was also a great little spot to enjoy a few cocktails.

The Victorian spa was worth a visit an adult only area which is always nice to relax and escape for a few hours.

A very good stay at the hydro we will be returning.
