We took advantage of the DBB midweek package and booked a spa treatment too. Unfortunately, we couldn't get availability when we wanted it, so took the only available slots left - 9am and 10am on the same day as we checked in. It was a bit of a faff, paying to use the Victorian Spa (which isn't included in the price of the treatment!) only to find it was too busy to swim in (it's quite small) or use the sauna (which wasn't on) then change for the treatment, then change again to get back to the spa to meet my friend. Not a very relaxing start!
Lunch in the Winter Gardens was lovely however and the setting superb, so much so, we half expected to bump into Poirot and Captain Hastings as we wandered around the gardens. After enjoying a couple of cocktails, we ate in the Meikle restaurant and again the service and setting was lovely.
There were only three small criticisms; no air conditioning in our room which made it stifling, the grouting in the Victorian Spa pool may well have been done in Victorian times and is in need of a re-grout and finally, the 'system' for lost property could do with being updated. Advising a customer that no one would be able to confirm if their lost property had been found until after 2pm the following day could do with improvement.

Room Tip: Family rooms cost the same as a double, so great for friends sharing. Ask for a fan or bring one if there's any chance it will be hot.

We went for a family weekend away and can't find fault. We paid bit extra for larger room and well worth it. Friendly staff and great food. Can't wait to go back. Thanks Crieff hydro we will be telling everyone how great you are .

Room Tip: Go for executive rooms

We are long standing but irregular customers of the Hydro. This time, a last minute overnight was a lovely reminder of what is so good. Dinner was great, although our soft drinks order was forgotten. Room was ok. Pool warm and despite lots of children at 9 am still able to swim. Breakfast was a disappointment - slow service and poor choice of fruit and quality of cooked items not great. Chef more than a little rude in grabbing serving tongs from me. Overall though a wonderful reminder of what is great about a hotel grounded in family values and history.

It was so kind of you to give us such a great review, JCScotland considering we tripped ourselves up a bit at times during your stay. Sorry. Hope you'll return for a longer break soon, when we'll make sure you find a return to form.

Had never been to the crieff hydro before and decided to go for a short weekend break with my sister to celebrate our 30th birthday. We were lucky and got a good deal including a 3 course meal and breakfast. The 3 course meal was absolutely amazing! Breakfast was a little bit disapointing with not much choice in fruit and cereals and as I drink alot of water in the mornings I felt we maybe should of been offered a jug of water when we had sat down. We then decided to go and have a game of crazy golf which was great fun but I was unaware that you needed proper footwear to be able to walk up to the activity centre. As our special birthday treat we had booked manicures and afternoon tea. The ladies in the spa were very friendly and helpful after we'd had the manicures and I couldn't get my purse out of my bag. We then had the afternoon tea and it was incredible. The only disapointment with it was the scones were tiny and it wasn't clotted cream either. The room was lovely too, very clean although housekeeping may have thought to keep a window open as it was so hot! All in all we had a wonderful stay and we'd both like to go back one day, the hotel was gorgeous and you could not fault any of the staff for their customer service skills and they were all so friendly especially the young gentleman on reception who had to come up and open our door for us coz we couldn't work it out, the 2 ladies who did our manicures marina and olga (?) and also the friendly lady who works in the boutique.

Aw, we're all really chuffed that you and your sister enjoyed your 30th Birthday celebration stay, Felicite C - especially the staff who received a special mention. Thanks for a terrific review and also your 'heads up' on how we can make things even better. Hope to see you both again soon.

We stayed for 2 nights on the dinner bed and breakfast package. The choice of food each evening was amazing, supplements could be paid if you wanted to upgrade to a steak etc. Drinks were very reasonable priced and the gin cocktails were amazing. Breakfast was good but service was pretty slow. We waited over 20min for our tea and toast, a few other guests were seen to be chasing this up also. My only complaint is the brasserie lunch was pretty bad. I had the open club sandwich, it came in a stale bun and the chips were cold, my boyfriend had the sausage baguette which was also cold. We were in room 106 which is an executive room, having stayed at many other hotels I wouldn't really rate this as an executive room as it was pretty small and didn't offer any extras that you'd think would usually be included, also it was right above the hub, there was a wedding on so there was loud music until after midnight. Luckily we go to bed late so it wasn't a problem but had we had an early departure the next day there would be no way I'd have been able to sleep because it was so loud, you could hear the music word for word! Over all though we had a great stay, all food was fab apart from lunch in the brasserie, drinks are very reasonably priced. We would definitely return but would be asking for a quiet room.

Thanks for letting us know which parts of your stay were absolutely 'spot-on' and where we can improve, lisa1875. It's great to hear that you're already planning a return stay, when we'll be aiming for a top-score review.
