Grace is a great host who cares about the well-being of her guests. The Bluestone Church is great equipped and nothing is missing. Again any time.
Excellent communication with the owner who thought of everything we would need to know in advance of our very easy, coded check-in. The chapel has retained all it's charm with the conversion to comfortable, modern standards. Spotlessly clean and the whole house is well stocked with anything you could possibly need both in the kitchen and throughout. The beds were luxurious and we slept with the cantilevered windows open to the hills and woods surrounding. Every morning we loved walking out our chapel door and stepping over to a full Scottish breakfast cooked to order at the General Store. The peaceful loch is just across the road to a little park with paths. Behind Bluestone is a woodsy walking/bike path that passes streams, waterfalls, hills, and plenty of sheep. You can take the path all the way to the next town of Comrie (6.5miles) if you're so inclined...and we were! (Eat at Hanson's Kitchen!)
While the location is central to many areas, we simply wanted to nestle in to the pace of St. Fillans and let it message away our travel stresses with it's tranquil magic. A truly refreshing oasis! Have dinner and the whisky flight at Achray House less than a ten minute walk down the road with gorgeous loch views!
Spending time relaxing and enjoying Bluestone Church while listening to our own music on the I-pod dock well situated in the living room, reading the provided information and books on the area, easily cooking dinner in the well appointed kitchen, watching the pheasant visit the back garden, and listening to the birds with nature all around us...wish I could transport myself back there right now!
The Bluestone Church I can only describe as a little piece of heaven. The location was remarkable, with the church located a stone throw from the loch, which was nothing short of breath taking.
The accommodation, was perfectly equipped and felt like a home away from home. In addition St. Fillans itself is really well positioned, near local attractions and world renowned golf courses.
Thank you Grace, this was one of the highlights of our holiday!
A home away from home.
Comfy beds, wood burning stove and thoughtful seating areas for groups or a bit of peace.
Location is an ideal central starting point for touring this part of Scotland by car with circular return drives lasting from late brekky to late afternoon.
The owner and property managers' communication and guidance were excellent.
The Bluestone Church is set in the beautiful village of St Fillans. The owners have successfully strived to create a calm, peaceful, well equipped and homely accommodation to welcome guests. The Church is welcoming from the first step you take across the threshold, spotlessly clean and with every possible need you may have, thought about in advance by the owners. The beds offer a wonderfully comfortable nights sleep. We enjoyed lots of walks with picturesque views , days out to explore local areas of interest and a great range of places to enjoy locally cooked produce. Liam’s coffee shop in the village is well worth a visit...yum. The autumn colours were spectacular. Grace and Jo were a fantastic source of places to visit and their kindness shone through in their wish for us to have a successful visit. We will definitely be returning.
A luxurious stay - 5 Star Hotel standard! - even offered a choice of 3 kinds of duvet and quilts. Very well appointed and the reconstruction inside is beautiful and restful. Lovely garden with seating outside to listen to the birds or to dry clothing. A rich location for activities from the doorstep - walking along Loch Earn and early morning swimming with stunning mountain backdrop [walking back in minutes for a luxurious hot shower! ] - to sites to see on day trips or quick visits such as nearby Comrie with its deli and bakery selling artisan bread, pies and award winning local cheeses. I recommend this without hesitation and look forward to visiting again.
The Bluestone Church has been converted into a two-bedroom gem of holiday accommodation. Impossibly picturesque from the outside - set back from the road by a beautiful, sloping, heather-planted garden - its interior has every amenity one could wish for; immaculately furnished yet homely. Fascinating and unexpected discoveries can be made within a very short drive from St Fillans: the wild 1715 Jacobite battlefield site of Sheriffmuir; the German POW Camp of Cultybraggan preserved like a ,time-capsule of the Second World War; the town of Comrie, known as the 'Shaky Toun', earthquake capital of the UK and the nearby 1874 'Earthquake House' , built to record earth tremors, has claims to being the smallest historic building in Europe. Well worth a visit.
