After having been caught in traffic problem and delayed considerably on the way up - it was a welcome relief to see the room - it was very well done. I had asked for ground floor room because of mobility issues - and that was fine - but there were about 6 or 8 steps up into the hotel - which i can manage but suspect the property wouldnt work that well for wheelchair users.
I didnt bother with evening meal but breakfast next day was probably the best ive had since ive been touring around - just devine (despite forgetting to bring my coffee)
the toiletries in the bathroom were very special - i couldnt read the labels so not sure if they were sourced locally - but very nice
this is an old property that has had the rooms done up very nicely and would certainly tyr and find an excuse to return.. probably the only property I stayed at in Scotland that I would bother returning to

Thanks for your generous review, and I'm glad you enjoyed your stay.

You mention difficulties of access for wheelchair users, but in fact the hotel is wheelchair accessible from the lane at the side, which gives access to three room, the restaurant, bar and lounges with any steps, and we regularly welcome guests in wheelchairs, as we did the day you checked out.

just returned home from a 2 night stay at the achray house and the whole experience has been fantastic! we dined in on both evenings, trying both the bar menu and the four course set menu and both were great. interesting dishes including wild boar and venison were all fantastic. The irn bru chilli jam beneath the haggis hon bons was something else. Delicious food all round. The sparkling wine and champagne on offer is great too. The hotel itself is in a lovely area and the room ( we had the mackintosh room..room 2) was very clean and overall a nice room. Some tlc is needed in the bathroom, the shower particularily, but is still of an good standard and there was some maintenance going on at the hotel during our stay, so i am sure this will be next on the list. The owners Jane and Alan are very attentive and genuinely nice people, always looking to help out in any way they can. This is a special hotel and youd struggle to find better. I would certainly return, hoping the shower had been renewed. Being 6.4 it was a bit restictive but overall we enjoyed everything. Thanks

Thanks for your kind review.

I'm glad you enjoyed the Irn Bru Chilli jam. I have always believed that good food does nor need to be over serious, and our haggis bonbons are a light hearted take on two Scottish favourites (or really three, including the pickled neep spaghetti).

Booked the Achray Lodge as we were combining a holiday in Scotland with attending the Commonwealth Games.

Found the hotel easily after a lovely drive from Glasgow. The welcome was warm and very friendly and the introduction to the room was comprehensive. The room had a view over Loch Earn to die for and it was a pleasure tom open the curtains every morning to look over the Loch to the mountains.

Breakfast was a delight and was obviously made up from excellent produce, a great way to start the day, great plate with the right size portions on it to set you up.

Service attentive, friendly, courteous and informative. The proprietors were very knowledgeable about the area and helpful in answering questions and giving suggestions. Our busy schedule meant we could only have one meal in the hotel and it did not disappoint, great menu and excellent food served at a table with a view of the Loch.

Room was very comfortable and good value. We had an accident that caused minor damage that we reported to management who were very gracious in accepting our apologies and courteously declined our offer to pay for the repair.

Definitely recommend.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front, the suite is superb.

Very comfortable room, excellent food, wonderful view, great walking both from the door and nearby, we loved staying here.
Loch Katrine boat and walk is a lovely day out, Ben Vorlich should be compulsory for any walker, a walk through Glen Tarken from the hotel is well worth it. didn't play but the local golf course was lovely and very friendly.

I'm pleased you go the chance to take in some of the local walks: they really are glorious, and surprisingly remote considering you start at the hotel and don't need to drive.

We had a wonderful room, comfortable bed and a view to die for...booked in for a visit to the Lochearnhead Highland Games and arrived mid afternoon to the hotel, warm welcome and a great service especially when arranging the meals which were split from the two menus available (evening and set) the food was for me first rate with an imaginary flair for flavour with good twists on good local produce, my wife however isn't as brave as me where food is concerned and she struggled to find and indeed enjoy the choices she had, that said, this is more to do with her palate then a fault of the menu or chef, all the food was cooked appropriately and as said, the flavours were great, my only down side is that i have a ferocious appetite and was disappointed with the portion sizes, some sides of potatoes or seasonal veg (other than what is served on the plate) would have been most welcome......in reflection, i would willingly stay here again but would make sure i had some Scooby snacks with me, our stay was a chill night but if you're more of the athletic type bulk up on whatever you can get hold of or leave the dining room un-fulfilled

Room Tip: we had room 3 which was supercalifragilisticexpecalidocious

Thanks for your review, and I'm glad you enjoyed your stay.

Portion sizes are of course very much a matter of individual taste, and as you yourself say you have a ferocious appetite, but I am a little surprised you ate only two courses off our four course menu if you still felt hungry. All the mains on our four course menu come with a potato dish and either two or three seasonal vegetables, and are served on plates that are too large to fit upright in our commercial dishwasher, so they are not tiny portions.

If you are the more athletic type trying to bulk up on whatever you can get hold of, the a venison burger and chips off our bar menu is probably a better bet that the “fine dining” four course menu, which is designed to excite the senses and taste buds with a combination of flavours, texture and colours, rather than just bulk you up.

Has to be one of the most beautiful locations in Scotland. Highlight was sitting on the decking in the evening sun, drinking wine and watching an osprey swooping down to the water for fish. We also enjoyed a lovely walk around part of Loch Earn (info on walks in info folder in room) My husband enjoys photography and we took some beautiful sunset shots from the small pier in front of the hotel. Owners friendly and welcoming-kindly upgraded us to a loch view-room was superb and bed comfiest ever! Great breakfast with again fantastic views out on to Loch Earn. Will definitely return and next time try out some of the delicious sounding dinner menu!
