“Dated and 3 Star at a push.”
Reviewed 29 July 2014

The most positive thing about this hotel was the friendly helpful receptionist.

The hotel itself is dated and shabby, the rooms are uninviting and bland, ours had a stained carpet and looked generally uncared for - dust in corners and skirting areas, although the bed linen and towels were fresh and clean and the bathroom was ok. The carpets throughout the hotel looked like they needed a good vacuum.

The hotel was noisy and from 9pm onwards other guests walked up and down the corridors slamming door, it didn't make for a very relaxing experience.

Breakfast was chaotic, when we arrived we were given a table that hadn't been cleared of the previous guests used plates etc, the waitress just picked them up and walked off - no attempt was made to wipe the table down and so the crumbs and debris remained from the previous guests along with a pot of half used milk. My husband went to get some cereal and picked up a bowl which when inspected was dirty - as were another 7 bowls he picked up - he passed all 8 to a member of staff and pointed out that they were dirty and needed to be re-washed and the only response he received was "ok". I decided not to bother with breakfast at this point and we checked out shortly afterwards.

This hotel has the potential to be much better, but it lets itself down on the most basic levels - the managers must surely be aware of this. I would not return.

Stayed at the Glynhill on the week-end of the 4th 5th July as part of a patchwork and quilting week-end. It was a very good choice of hotel. The room was spotless, food fabulous and the staff excellent.

Situated on a dreary and busy road on the border of Renfrew. Let's not say anything else about the location, they can't move the place elsewhere after all!

Outside of the hotel has had some work done recently I suspect, or it's been well maintained, as it does look quite inviting. Parking was plenty and free. Inside it's very plain however and could use a lot of decorating love both in the public spaces and in the individual rooms. Room itself was of decent size but sparsely furnished with a small desk. More importantly there is no Airco... and with a front-facing room the options are then to either suffer the heath or open the window and hear the street noise throughout the night. I realise sunny days in Scotland are not a weekly occurrence but even then... this isn't good at all.

Had a look at the restaurant but decided to eat elsewhere. I suspect a lot of the guests here are staying for a single night before an early flight from nearby Glasgow International and they are not aiming for long stay guests. When in Glasgow by car I might stay for a night if it's in winter, freezing outside and only in need of a place to sleep. In all other cases I'd look for something closer to Glasgow where the options are better.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your recent review. The hotel is situated in the sub city location of Renfrew which is also the historical "Cradle of The Royal Stewart's". Many people choose the hotel because of it's location to local businesses and also the close vicinity to Glasgow International Airport.

Thank you for taking the time to review the hotel.

I have stayed at the Glynhill Hotel on a couple of occassions and both times the rooms have been excellent. Staff have are really nice and helpful as well.
I had arranged for my works night out at the hotel with overnight stay and everyone tottally enjoyed thier stay at the hotel and the food was lovely. I have recomended this hotel to my friends and family. Am also looking forward to spending a couple of nights for my Birthday at the hotel this week.

Room Tip: Go for an upgrade well worth paying a little bit extra.

Stayed for 1 night in this hotel, was expecting so much more.On arrival,I was met by a receptionist who could hardly be bothered to make eye contact, hardly welcoming,She just pointed the general of the room. After climbing stairs, not very clean,I found the room, what a disappointment,it was basic, some lights not working. When I thought this place could'nt get any worse,It was dinner in the restaurant,The food was so bad, over cooked and tasteless, and the staff need some training in customers service.Do not stay in this hotel.

Just arrived home from spending a great two nights in the Glynhill hotel. Some of my siblings gave us this break as a gift for my husbands 65th but the family also joined us to enable us to celebrate my brothers 50th. We went to the "dirty dancing "theme night which was excellent. The meal served was outstanding. All courses were presented beautifully and it was apparent most of the food was locally sourced. The staff were mostly friendly and looked after us very well. Moving on to the rooms. We had 4 rooms booked in total and all of them were standard ones. They were all cleaned and bedding white and fresh, most importantly, there was mattress protectors. (this is one of my bug bears) . The room do look tired, walks had marks on them and there was some small stains on some of the carpets. The hotel has some work getting done on the outside just now so maybe they'll bring the standard rooms up to a better level once that work is completed. The breakfast buffet us superb, there's so much to chose from and it's all fresh and staff are always adding fresh items. We ate the second night in the restaurant where it was a carvery and again the choice was immense and you can keep going up as often as you wanted!!! We also used the leisure/spa facilities. There's a pool, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna and hydro shower. We could also just lounge at side of pool where they sell ( cheaply) juice, tea coffee and various crisps, chocolate etc. We were allowed to use these facilities after we checked out which just made our wonderful experience last longer. We then had lunch in the bistro lounge and again good was fantastic. Overall the only thing this hotel should do is bring the standard rooms up to a higher level and, this is just a personal opinion, the only thing the leisure and spa facilities lack is there no massage, facial etc service.
