“very accommodating”
Reviewed 17 October 2013

We had a group of up to 40 people including children for a meal at the steam wheeler, staff could not have been more accommodating. This was pre-booked and staff kept in touch with group coordinator. We were so impressed that we booked again for 2 nights later, good atmosphere and our group were kept together. Children were able to play outside and the food was excellent, fresh and plentiful. Would highly recommend the Steam wheeler for its relaxed attitude to a large group booking with kids!!

“EXCELLENT FOOD”
Reviewed 13 October 2013

We ate a carvery meal at The Steam Wheeler in October. We arrived just before 5 o'clock. The staff apologised that the carvery was not quite ready. After about five minutes the meat was brought from the kitchen. The vegetables were also freshly cooked. We had a beautiful carvery meal, with a choice of 3 meats and a big choice of vegetables. The price is extremely reasonable.

“Above and beyond”
Reviewed 12 October 2013

We arrived at our hotel near the Glasgow airport at 10pm and didn't think we'd find anywhere to eat a late (okay, very late) dinner on our last night in Scotland. We saw The Steam Wheeler across the lot and since it's lights were still on, thought we'd take a chance and walk across. We asked if they were still serving food and sadly the server told us they were closing for the night. The owner Brett then jumped in to say they'd be happy to cook us up something (he must have seen the desperation in our eyes or maybe heard our tummies grumbling lol). He ushered us to a table in the clean, well lit, spacious restaurant and asked if we trusted him - we did, with great results! We had an appetizer plate with a whole assortment of delicious food (my favourite was the chicken frittatas) and then our entree was the steak & ale pie - YUM! Everything was delicious but even more impressive was the service - every member of the staff came over to talk to us at some point during our meal - not only to ask how the food was but just general conversation. They were extremely gracious, friendly and accommodating and made our last night in Scotland memorable!

“Distinctly Average”
Reviewed 9 October 2013

Popped in on a Sunday Lunchtime. Food was ok, nothing special but the guy showing people to their seats was loud to the point of being irritating. "is this your first time at the Steam Wheeler? " "Yes!" "Oh a very warm welcome to you"....same script at 500 decibels everytime people came in. Just too artificial. Cakes looked big though
