We discovered this guest house by chance and glad we did. It is extremely well presented with large modern comfortable rooms and ensuites. Washing machine facilities was a welcome convenience. Attention to detail is very well done. There is a very comfortable lounge area with drinks, snacks, tea and coffee. The lounge has a large TV and fireplace that is very inviting with sensational district views.

Our host Stephen is there to please, nothing was an issue. He cooked a hearty breakfast to order.

The guest house is a few minute drive out of town, but with a car this was not an issue for us.

Overall, a must stay place when jn the Dornoch region.

I cannot recommend The Steading highly enough. This is a truly outstanding place to stay. Its standards are that of a five-star, international hotel. Everything about the large rooms, sumptuous food, welcoming owners, friendly dog, high-quality decor and...well, everything! is absolutely superb. It is a "must" stop on the NC500. The owners' experience in the tourism industry has been used to create one of the best examples of hospitality I've ever seen. There should be a Tripadvisor option to award six stars, just for this establishment. Don't do the 500 without stopping for at least one night here.

Room tip: You can't go wrong. Every room is great.

My husband and I have toured Scotland twice a year for over thirty years and our accommodation is very important to us. This is one of the very best.
We tend to build our itinerary round where we like to stay and so the Steading in Dornoch is now on the list.

We stayed here on 24th September and it is fantastic. Beautifully appointed, lovely bedrooms with big contemporary en suite, really comfy bed and great public spaces with tremendous views. Stephen was so informative about the history of the steading and its facilities. Very relaxed atmosphere - a great place to stay.

This was our first stop on our round-the-wrong-way NC500 trip and what a great start. We received a lovely welcome from Jayne and Ozzy who explained everything we needed to know. Stephen drove us into the town where we enjoyed a meal and drinks and he came to pick us up after which was a lovely touch. Breakfast was cheery, tasty and plentiful in the morning. The property is beautifully finished with every attention to detail. They are wonderful hosts who make you feel very relaxed and quite at home. We would love to visit again as our stay was short this trip (1 night).
