“Outstanding little hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 April 2014

I stayed at this very beautiful little luxurious hotel not long after it opened. The room we had was as good as i've experienced. Very tastefully furnished and beautifully appointed. We were a very late booking and the restaurant was already fully booked, however the chef went out of his way to cook us an amazing meal just for the two of us. The food was spectacular. We had a great stay. We also enjoyed a spot of putting on the beautiful putting green.

The Links House is a gem! New in 2013, it is the must stay place in Dornoch, especially if you are playing golf at Royal Dornoch. The rooms are large--as are the baths. All features are modern.
The staff, led by Beverley Navarro, is exceptional. The chef is truly outstanding. The ambiance of the common areas is cozy and inviting. Throughout, the owners' enthusiasm, commitment and attention to detail makes for a wonderful guest experience.

He was at a loss to find something new for my birthday, and surrendered with "I'll take you out to lunch". We have a few very good restaurants nearby, but when we arrived at Links House, we were taken aback, we had heard that it was very expensive.
The food, wine, service and ambiance of Links House was way beyond expectation. Michel received us with great cordiality and we lived, for the time we were there, like Lords.
The decor ,furnishings and artwork were so tasteful and well planned. Not only will we give the meal and service five stars, but also it is a beautiful, cultured and homely place, worthy of a visit if you are in Dornoch.
Finally, we were pleasantly surprised at the reasonable bill.

My husband and I stayed at Links House for a couple of nights.....wish it could have been longer. We have promised ourselves to return. What a discovery, the service, care and attention to our every need was perfection. Beverley, the Manager, was welcoming, warm and informative - a true professional with our comfort and desires constantly in mind. We dined in the restaurant and were not disappointed with the flavours of the dishes, presentation and attention to detail. The chef is a welcome surprising talent. All the staff were friendly, approachable and attentive. The library and lounge are elegantly furnished and still homely and relaxing.
Dornoch town is delightful beautiful historic buildings. Near to the hotel walks by the sea and Links golf course. We ventured put to Shin Falls and watched the salmon run..unforgettable experience. We are looking forward to our return and will stay longer to rejuvenate and de stress.
A true gem, we highly recommend!!

Room Tip: We stayed in the new extension of the hotel on the first floor. Beautiful room, extremely spacious...

Links House reflects the Spirit of Dornoch and the Highlands like no other. The warmth of welcome and professionalism shown by the Manager and restaurant manager are matched by the attention to detail and appointment of the rooms and the building. Though we were first time visitors and only booked for Sunday lunch we were greeted at the door by name and made to feel like it was our home for the afternoon. A superb set menu accompanied by a very nice house wine with each course made for a magical afternoon. Seasonal and local ingredients displayed the passion that was evident in all aspects of the House and hosts. A show round of the house after lunch made it very tempting to cancel our return to London and book a room for the night or nights. We are looking forward to returning to this amazing retreat at the earliest opportunity and for longer the next time.

Rather than rush from place to place (with its Bataan like routine of wake-up, pack bags, check-out, drive, play world class golf, check-in, unpack, sleep in unfamiliar surroundings, repeat….) we decided to make this trip a truly memorable experience. Therefore we used Links House as our home base for a full week of Scottish Highlands adventure.

The hotel itself is extraordinary. The furnishings, antiques, and artwork have been carefully selected to create a feeling that is classic and understated in its elegance. The in-house chef’s meals were creative and delicious and incorporated unique local ingredients. But the most unique aspect of our trip were the experiences we enjoyed that would have been missed had we tried to rush off to another location.

As an example, Beverly, the resident manager of Links House, arranged an afternoon of fly fishing for salmon (after we had played 18 holes at Royal Dornoch in the morning). Or the time we hopped on Links House loaner bicycles to peddle into Dornoch to spend a few hours casting for rainbow trout at the Dornoch Lochans. Or the driver that was arranged for us to visit Dunrobin Castle, an historic, aristocratic family castle that dates to the 1300s. Or even the tee times arranged at Brora Golf Club, a local club which Beverly insisted would provide a memorable experience. She was right. Scottish links golf in its finest form with a clubhouse jammed with locals enjoying a pint – not a bus of tourists to be seen for miles! Castle Stuart and Royal Dornoch are world-class and destination worthy – but there are local gems that should be experienced.

A stay at Links House enables you to truly immerse yourself in the Scottish Highlands. I look forward to my next visit – maybe we’ll add stag stalking to the agenda!

My partner and I Dined here a couple of months ago, not long after they opened.

I'm not overly keen on the set menu, everyone dining together scenario but we really enjoyed our evening.

Michael, Restaurant Manager, is the consumate professional and puts you at ease immediately.

Darren, the chef, has skills above his years and portrays that on the plate.

The Links House is a special occasion destination but i do suggest you visit at least once.
