“The special porridge..”
Reviewed 27 August 2013

We stayed here one night, Martin was really welcoming, the rooms are small but pretty, comfortable and warm. The breakfast, a special porridge with whisk, was awesome!
Glengolly is a perfect place to stay in Durness.

The people here were outstanding in helping 6 of us find accommodation, my husband and myself stayed here and at first I was disappointed in the facilities and room appointments but it didn't take me long to realise how fortunate we were to experience living in a working cottage were besides us the next important thing were the working dogs. I also had the experience of a speciality Scottish Porridge, although mid summer, porridge, Creme Brûlée style with afloat of whiskey, that gets you going!

When you check in to this B&B, you will get the chance to see the owner's dogs in action rounding up the sheep! This is a working croft and Martin, the owner, is proud to share his passion. Not all rooms are en suite, the twin room will be a shared bathroom. The breakfast Is excellent, freshly cooked to order. Well worth a visit.

We spent 4 nights here, and loved it. (Helped by good weather!) Our hosts were very welcoming, and breakfast was excellent. The whisky porridge is to be recommended!
We would stay here again as it is comfortable and the room was nice and large. Having a bath was a bonus.
Lots of great walks to do, and a visit to Cape Wrath is not to be missed.

Having stayed there 15 times we can strongly recommend this B and B and the whisky porridge for breakfast is not to be missed. Both Mary and Martin are very welcoming and helpful and are passionately involved with local activities. The scenery of the surrounding area (including the North West corner) is unbeatable.

We stayed for two nights as part of a week away in the north of Scotland. The owners are very friendly and welcoming, and you are made to feel (almost) part of the family on this working croft.

The double room we had was spacious and well equipped with an en-suite bathroom with bath! Woo!

Breakfasts were great, especially the whisky porridge, and the cooked breakfast was a must too.

All in all a good wee B&B.

Stayed for one night while touring the north/west coast. Martin was very helpful and welcoming and the room we stayed in was really big (I think it was the family room)and well kitted out. the decor is a bit dated but actually adds to the charm of the place.

Durness (and the surrounding area) is absolutely stunning. Because it's so remote it's an unspoilt, hidden gem. For such a small and remote place, there is an abundance of things to do: visit Smoo cave, John Lennon's memorial garden, Cape Wrath, Faraid Head peninsula, loads of beautiful beaches (Balnakeil, Sango, etc. and Oldshoremore and Sandwood bay aren't too far away either) - not to mention hillwalking, fishing and local history.

I can't wait to go back.
