“Comfortable stay!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 March 2012

Work in Golspie and the Sutherland hinterland required a 2 night stay in Golspie and the Granite Villa run by Jane, provided a grand base. Excellent room, comfy bed and delicious cooked breakfast, with an extensive cooked menu, range of jams, marmalades and honey to spread on your toast, all washed down with good tea or coffee. Evening meal in The Trawler, a take-away chippy or sit-in restaraunt across the main street from the bottom of Fountain Road. The fish is fresh, the chips are properly fried and the venison casserole, with black pudding, peas and chips followed by apple crumble and MacKay's vanilla icecream with a pot of tea, was spot-on. Beer or wine available, if that is what you like. All with the longest mountain bike downhill run in the UK out the back of the town!

Remembered Golspie from away back and decided to stop for the night. Was directed to the Granite Villa Guesthouse in Fountain Road. Arrived to find a group of very happy holiday makers being entertained by the extroverted owner Jane. The room was excellent, warm, clean and comfortable. The lounge and breakfast room were again very comfortable and welcoming. The breadfast was whatever you wanted and there was plenty of it ! Jane the owner was a mine of information and her very cheerful and bright personality was infectious.
This was truly a very welcome find in a lovely village by the sea. Will stay there anytime I am in the vicinity.

Room Tip: Very quiet street so all are good

We went to Golspie to visit friends and stayed at Granite Villa for four nights. We were made very welcome. We are in our late seventies and really appreciated being able to go back to our room and rest during the day if we needed to. The breakfasts were really good,(lots of fresh fruit and great selection of cereals.) I loved Jane's teapots and jugs in the Dining Room. Tea, coffee. and Drinking Chocolate and Biscuits in the Bedrooms. We would love to have stayed longer. We felt very relaxed and comfortable and hope to go again to Golspie and certainly will stay at Granite Villa.A lovely Guesthouse in a lovely Village with lovely people. Just what we like.

Room Tip: I would'nt mind what room I had. It's a quiet Road so I'm sure all the rooms are good AN...

We can only recommend this B&B. The host was very kind and went out of her way to make our stay perfect. Breakfast is lovingly made with everything you can imagine and yes, she even makes her own honey! The room was great and spotlessly clean. One of our best stays! If you're in the area be shure to visit the waterfalls (a cute under an hour walk through a pretty forest) and the castle with its great falconry display!

I have to say that having never been in this area until our Honeymoon, Golspie is a beautiful village, and I can imagine lots of people being impressed by it or evev moving here! We stayed in Granite Villa one night in September 2010, though it almost did not start well. We arrived and met Jane, however she told me we had not booked and I must have got the wrong place. I was confident I was right but she told me we were not booked in. Suddenly about 20 seconds later, as I was flummoxed and wondering what to do, she seemed to have a change of heart and simply showed us to our room without apologising...Room was nice, had a good TV and was nicely decorated. Great lounge next door and plenty of things to read through or watch as a guest. We ate at the Trawler Restaurant 5 minutes away and it was great. During breakfast we met Alan and he was very friendly and told us all about the idiot young car driver who had smashed into part of their wall, which was being repaired when we were there. Breakfast was very good, and we had a great view of their big front garden. The off-street parking is great here. All in all I have to give 5 stars - the very start was not promising, however it all turned out fine in the end. We went to Dunrobin Castle, which was fantastic (especially the falconry demonstration) and the road to Lairg was fantastic and very scenic.

The house, room, bathroom were spacious and neat and clean and the location is absolutely perfect (central and quiet) not to mention the breakfast from a huge variety to choose from like different fresh berries and jam and her own honey. Jane was very very very helpful in all matters. I felt almost like home and more than welcome. The stay was pleasant as can be and I can definitely recommend the Granite Villa. Hope to come back again. Thank you Jane you are great.

Friends and i took a 6 day motrorcycle ride around the north of Scotland, and stayed at Granite Villa after visiting John O Groats via Ullapool, the long way.
The owner, Jane was very welcoming to us, and ensured the bikes were secured.
The rooms were excellent, Large, airy, and spotless. The en suite seemed recently updated and was large, bright with a big shower cubicle.
Directions to the Cafe attached to the local Fish and Chip shop supplied us with a very very good Tea, with several pints of cold Cider and Beer, as it has a licence.
The breakfast was superb, many differnt types of Ceral, toast, with a large selection of jams and spreads, including Janes own Honey. The cooked breakfast was equally varied, the Haggis being the best i have had.
We would have liked to have stayed longer.
I look forward to returning.
Thanks Jane, for making
