We arrived here in the afternoon after a long drive up from Manchester. Allan's son showed us in to our lodge, having to meet him up at the lodge (us driving up there and leaving him to walk, as there was no room in the car) how guilty did I feel after seeing the hill!
The lodge was great, a real home from home. Everything we needed was in it, and was very homely. Very clean too.
The view from the lounge/patio area had a great view over loch ness.
We didn't get to see much wildlife, a couple of Hares and a few birds, a Woodpecker even. But then again, we weren't really about that much.
I did a bit of reading and planned ahead for the trip, so we managed to do and see quite a lot.
The mobile signal was pretty non-existent in the lodge, hence no internet as there was no wi-fi. What do you expect being in that part of the world though? So a good idea to plan ahead, or use the free wifi in the places you visit. (Fiddlers (PW in menu(very small font), Loch Ness Inn (ask for the PW) etc)
Would recommend a trip to the Fiddlers in the village for food, but book a table in advance.
We struggled to get a taxi on the Saturday night, so I drove and parked in the car-park in the village. (its a bit of a walk, if you are fit and brave enough)
Allan paid us a couple of visits, on the first night and on the last, to check how we are. We didn't really have the need to contact him, as everything was fine and as mentioned I had planned ahead anyway. I am sure though, if we had to he would have been happy to help.
