We stayed at Kerrowdown Mill and were upgraded to Snugglebug. We were there to celebrate a significant wedding anniversary. The standard of the accomodation was very high. I read the comments below about taking slippers, we were advised to take ours as the floors are slate. But to be honest as the accomodation was so pristine I cant imagine anyone wearing their outdoor shoes inside. Yes the owners have their views but we did not encounter any feelings of pressure. The photos of the accomodation on the website are accurate. A very special place to stay and chill.

some of the views of the owners are questionable but they don't try to indoctrinate them. what can be said is that that they take good and healthy diet very serious.

our breakfast included porridge (not cooked, only soaked overnight in water and then heated to only 60°C) with himalaya salt, fresh and raw fruit (kiwi with skin, raspberries, pears, apple, melon, mago). the other part of the breakfast was wild salmon with green asparagus, some leafs of salad and sprouts.

as drinks well water and orange juice were served. no milk is used and only coconut butter was provided.

the room (we got one room in a cottage) was very nice and the living room and kitchen of that cottage (Deer View) were of enormously high standard (DVD player, TV with sky, sound system, hifi stereo).

We stayed in the Loch ness water mill at Kerrowdown mill and thought it was fantastic. We were a little bit concerned about the owners after reading the reviews, but we couldn't have found them more helpful. After a long 12 hour drive with three children we arrived to a warm welcome with Phil and Victoria unpacking our tesco delivery which had arrived earlier than booked! They did ask us to take our shoes off when walking on the carpets but the cottage was of such a high standard we totally understood and would have done that anyway. They showed us around pointing out games for the children and a guitar and instruments they could use. They recommended days out, looked on line for us to see the best times for the dolphins at the moray firth and lent us a map and directions for a fantastic drive to the Isle of Skye. Victoria even got out badminton nets and played with our children (twins of 12 and a 10 year old)who had great fun. The cottage was exactly as shown on the website, we have stayed in lots of 4 and 5 star hotels and this was easily of that standard. We loved it so much we are booking to go back next year.

We stayed at Nessies Snuggle bug for a week aimed at outdoors activities and local sightseeing after a long stretch at work & hence looked forward to relaxation. The setting is beautiful and we couldn't fault the cleanliness and obvious care taken by the owners to make the place comfortable. The decor is very personal, lots of reclaimed wood furniture which they have lovingly restored. We agree that they are friendly and also that they made a thing about not walking on carpets, don't do this and don't do that. We were given a load of verbal instructions to this effect when got there after an 8 hour journey and it was backed up by a list of instructions and numerous little 'messages' etc around the place about what not to do e.g. putting items on a wooden shelf and the best, 'why you shouldn't use microwaves'. Whilst they obviously care about the property we found it, at best, intrusive. We are both 30-something professionals and felt this bordered on a lack of trust. In some respects it was irritating. The water pressure was poor and my husband was disappointed at the lack of decent facilities to shave (the sink in the bathroom was for 'rinsing' only and had no plug)
Anyway the surrounding area is beautiful, breathtaking with the colours in Autumn. We would recommend the area but personally wouldn't recommend the accommodation, unless you are more tolerant than us!

Our rental(Nessie's Snuggle Bug) iat Kerrowdown MIll was outstanding.Kitchen and bath was slate and marble.High on a hill w/sweeping views of grazing farm animals, green hillsides, and Loch Ness. Our hosts were a bit eccentric but very friendly and the only downside was that they insisted we take our shoes off on the rugs( I would have brought slip-ons' for ease)and because of our high hilltop location,we did not get great water pressure for the shower and had to rely on a slow fill for the tub.BUT..the rental was beautiful, the area stunning, and I can imagine howlovely the mill courtyard was in the midst of summer w/the wildflowers and herbs in bloom. An overall lovely place to stay and a great location for exploring the area.
