After reading the reviews we stayed in Inverness at first. Inverness hotel was far more expensive and room not as good. Plus traffic and parking difficult. Loch Ness Lodge easy to get in and out and central location to the Loch. For the price a good stay. Room clean, comfortable, and breakfast was good, but could use a few more items. Front desk, bar and restaurant service very good. Service from Darrel and Sheona who we interacted the most with was exceptional. They made us feel like family and important guests which made this a memorable stay. Originally, we were set to stay just one night but after meeting the staff we stayed 4 nights. Would have stayed longer but had to go back to real life. Food was one of the better places on the Loch for Scottish Food, and the Bar had a fine selection of Whisky. Darrel was very helpful in our trials of Whisky and we now have a new favorite. We stayed in a 2 twin bed room, for a reasonable price compared to the rest of the area. When return to Loch Ness, I will for sure stay here.

My husband and I stayed here for one night on 30 August. We arrived in Drumnadrochit and liked the look of this hotel so thought we would see if they had any availability for the night.

We were greeted by a lovely woman on arrival who was extremely helpful and offered to show us the room we would be allocated (we arrived prior to hotel check in time). We paid £99 for one night bed and breakfast in a double room.

The hotel is carpeted throughout with Scottish tartan and is full of artefacts and traditional Scottish fare. It's got a lovely warm and welcoming feel to it.

When we went back to the hotel to get our room key, another member of staff on reception advised she had given us another, slightly larger room as she had a last minute cancellation. This was a pleasant surprise.

Our room was adequately sized and well laid out with nice furnishings. It had a hospitality tray with tea, coffee, hot chocolate, sugar, milk and biscuits.

The toilet was small but well maintained. The cistern made a loud noise upon flushing which we think was a pump system. This made us reluctant to use the flush during the night. The bed was well made however the mattress needed replaced. However these two points did not at all stop us from having a lovely stay in this hotel.

We spent a few hours in the bar and Daryl the barman's knowledge of the hotel's history really impressed us. He also makes a fine French Martini! We asked for a deck of cards and he gave us a brand new pack rather than using a deck already opened. He was a lovely host who really helped make our stay that little bit more special.

Breakfast in the morning was very nice. We both got served immediately and offered toast, tea and coffee. We then went to the hot buffet where there was a member of staff serving. Food was lovely, no complaints.

All staff who dealt with us during our stay were very attentive and pleasant.

Overall this was a wonderful stay in a lovely hotel in a beautiful part of Scotland and we would definitely return.

We spent one night here and the room was old fashioned but clean enough. The hospitality of the staff was very good although the breakfast procedure was shambolic. Eggs cooked to order and everything else on a buffet system. Evening meal in their Pibroch Restaurant was excellent and overall we enjoyed this hotel.

Stopped here for breakfast with a friend on our way out of the area, I think we paid 12.50 each and the breakfast was not worth it at all. Self serve buffet, food had been under lights for too long and had congealed unpleasantly. Coffee was tepid at best. It seemed to be a real imposition on the staff to have to deal with guests, with the only exception being the girl on reception who was very friendly.

I did not stay the night here so cannot comment on what that is like but I would not visit here for a meal again.

We recently travelled up to this hotel for the weekend from Edinburgh and really enjoyed our time there. We got a great deal on their website and thought the service, our room and the hotel's amenities were great value for money. We paid just £89 per room per night for a superior room which came complete with lovely Scottish Fine Soap toiletries, tea/coffee, and a really nice view of the village of Drumnadrochit. We had a really nice evening meal in the bar (the food is exceptional), and the bar is really atmospheric and lively (there was a lively group of Italians staying on one of the nights we stayed!). The bar is great and you can happily spend the whole evening in there, the staff are friendly and the service is great. There is also lots to do in the area such as boat cruises on Loch Ness, walks and lovely cafes you can visit nearby. The hotel's location really is great, and a full Scottish breakfast is included in the room rate, well worth getting up for as the breakfast is delicious! We really enjoyed our time here and thought the hotel was a real gem.

Room Tip: Ask for a superior room, if ones available they will give it to you.

When we pulled up to the hotel it held promise. Cute, stone building and adequate parking. Front desk was helpful at check-in, but it pretty much went down from there. We were warned that dinner ended in 5 min (9 pm during peak travel season) so we should order before unloading or anything else. The girl at the bar was very sweet, but she and the other young one seemed overwhelmed by the late rush of diners. Dinner was fine but all condiments requested were forgotten. Thankfully the bar atmosphere was cool. We ate, headed to our room, and were disappointed to find our window opening to the trash area and a stucco wall. More than anything else though, the overwhelming oder of urine in the bathroom was inescapable. The tired carpet in the room was old but seemed clean. the bathroom had a layer like vinyl on the floor with a rough cut around the commode base, leaving us to wonder what was under it. it turned out, we think, to be the commode itself. Every flush yielded an invisible yet incredibly strong cloud of urine oder. Simply awful. The fresh, crisp, white bedding was appreciated on the comfortable beds. That's the best we can say about the Loch Ness Lodge and Hotel.

We were told at check-in that breakfast was 8-9:30. A tight window of time for peak season we thought...and we're right. We rushed down at 9:10 to find everything empty, the staff stressed, and the room like a sauna. Four empty juice pitchers, three empty jelly jars, one bowl of canned grapefruit-the only fruit-and lots of empty pans on the steam table. Asking the stressed servers for a plate, bowl or anything we could eat off of, was not seemingly well received. We are not high maintenance travelers. We typically roll with it but this was getting tiresome. We found some bread to toast (in line with 5 others), asked for jam of any sort and just hoped to get out soon. No problem as check out is 10. Not a restful stop for sure. When we went to check out, there was a line of people all waiting to complain. By the time we got up to the front, the receptionist appeared to be over it. She tried to write down all the complaints and apologized for each but it was just mind-boggling. We travel at least 3 times per month, more in summer. This hotel is in our bottom three for sure. Never to return...

We had a disappointing stay at this hotel. It seemed that all the staff we encountered were young and relatively inexperienced so service both for dinner and breakfast was slow and ineffective. Unless you joined the breakfast room “scrum” when the doors opened, the buffets ran out both eggs and bacon and were not replenished for at least the 15 minutes we bothered to wait – despite numerous staff standing around just looking perplexed. This hotel also mistakes so called environment-friendly for just plain cheap. Dim to the point of dangerous bathroom lighting and plastic cups for tea and water in the room are several examples. It could be so much more but we would certainly not recommend this hotel for any stay in Drumnadrochit.
