“Nice pub shame about the rooms.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 December 2011

Our room had a door to nowhere in it which scared me if I'm honest. The bed was very squeaky and the sound proofing between rooms was terrible. The service and the food in the pub were great though.

What a wonderful find we had on our recent trip north. The en suite room was exceptionally clean ,warm and welcoming. The evening meal in the restaurant was food from the gods, excellent wine to accompany it.A word of warning though ,,,,,you have to be up early in the morning if you want pancakes for breakfast as they were finished when we went down at 9.30,in their defence,I asked for porridge which wasnt on the menu and they willingly made it for me.looking forward to our next visit.

My fiance and myself travelled up to the Highlands, although we have been visiting there every year (sometimes twice a year) for 10 years we never tire of it's tranquility and beauty,we stayed at The Benleva Hotel, as we do every visit, we always have a great stay and this year was no exception. We arrived the week of the Loch Ness beer festival and had a fantastic time, it's a bit surreal to wander around the quiet roads in the area and then go into the bar of the Benleva and have a good old knees up to a really good band (The Penny Dogs), there was "Steve's pub quiz" which was hilarious, a pool knockout and poker and thats apart from the 60 or so real ales that they have on offer through the week, good selection of whiskies too, the rooms are clean and comfy, the breakfast is huge and the evening menu has a good selection of dishes too. Allan and Stephen who own it and run it do their utmost to make you feel at home and the bar staff are real characters and so friendly,as are the locals who drink in the bar, there's always a couple of dogs sittting around too, which i love. We'll definately go back again, especially in September when the beer festival is on, we meet the up with other people from all over England, who go up there at the same time of year. There are some great walks around Drumnadrochit, the scenery is so beautiful and it's so quiet and peaceful ( just what you need when you live in the East End of London), we went up for a week this time but you really need longer to unwind and take in the whole atmosphere of the place. The only horrible part of the trip was the sad news that "Archie" the Benleva collie had recently passed away, he was lovely and will be saddly missed by tourists and locals alike.

Our 3 night stay here was planned over a year before, having called in for a beer and a meal here on our way to the Orkneys in June 2010. We couldn't resist coming back for the Loch Ness Beer Festival in 2011- we were not dissapointed !! Our ensuite twin room was very comfortable and welcoming to return to at the end a day of exploring and drinking, we both slept very well in the comfortable beds. Nasty, modern, minimalist decoration would not suit this place- we do like a carpet in our bedroom! Breakfast was excellent and very filling, the best we had on our holiday and the only time we had black pudding. Restaurant food was also very good featuring many local dishes and ingredients. As for the beer ( which was all in tip top condition) the variety was outstanding. Their own Loch Ness beers as good as the rest. All of this was provided with a warm smile, some interesting conversation AND at a very reasonable price! We hope to return in the future and have already recommended the Benleva to friends if they are in this part of Scotland.

First found the Benleva hotel when on a cruise of the Caledonian canal & looking for somewhere to get a decent pint. Made sure we went there on the way back as well!
Went back for the Loch Ness beer festival with friends & family & everyone had a great time. Great beer, great food, good accomodation at a reasonable rate & an absolutely top class reception from Steve & ALL the staff. Unfortunately my friends weren't allowed to take the dogs home!
We'll definitely be back & with more friends.

If you go, don't tell anyone otherwise they might be booked up when I want to go back!

Just back from our 7th stay, great place to stay. The rooms are spotless, the food is excellent, ales are superb what more would you want? The owners are constantly trying to upgrade this perfect little hotel, this year they are upgrading the beds in the rooms, the bathrooms were refurbed in recent years and are still in excellent condition. The staff every year welcome us back with their never fading wit!! It really is a home from home we are already planning when we can get back. Almost don't want to say too much in case we have to compete with too many others trying to stay here

Stayed for one night on our way back from the Orkneys. Room very spacious, excellent heated towel rail dryed our wet bike gear. Decor does look a little dated, but have everything a traveller needs for a good nights stay i.e. comfortable bed, warm shower etc, and we didn't go to look at the wall paper. Scenery round the hotel very lovely, and peaceful.

Food lovely, you have gotta try the blackpudding and haggis tower in whisky sauce, totally delicious. Breakfast very filling.

staff very friendly and excellent service. Will definitely stay again.

Room Tip: any all are lovely
