“Needs Updating in a bad way”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 May 2014

Stayed here for a night while on a 3 day site seeing tour, check in was very fast and easy, but the rooms were way out of date, small TV with only 4 channels...2 channels being news, no wifi anywhere,we were given the password but could not get wifi anywhere in the hotel.Parts of the room we were in felt like we were going to fall through the floor in spots, the bathroom was about 30 years old and needs updating badly,it is a high step up to the bathtub for a shower and even more so when trying to get out, there is nothing to hang onto when trying to step out of the shower. Both soap containers in the room were empty, walls were paper thin, could hear everything that was going on in the rooms besides us,we new when my sister and brother inlaw fell asleep because we could hear him snoring.

Restaurant opened at 6;30 am, service was fast, but food was nothing special, I had the full Scottish Breakfast and the Black pudding was really really dry,so much that I couldn't eat it.

I would recommend staying at a B&B in the area if you need to stay in Drumnadrochit .

Room Tip: Try to get a B&B for your stay, you will be far better off.

We stayed here for three nights as part of a sightseeing trip to Loch Ness, the hotel is a bizzarre looking building and at 1st seems modern, you then get to the rooms and you fear the worse as they are dated, but retro might be a better word, they are clean, quiet and very comfortable. There is no wifi in the rooms but in the reception there is, the breakfast was outstanding and the reception service are very friendly. Strangely the hotel restaurant shuts at random times if they are quiet !
But its a great stay and i would happily recommend it to anyone.

I took a party of ladies to the hotel for high tea on Saturday 10th May 2014. I don't know where to begin with praise. The food was exceptionally good, the staff, although all very young, were efficient and nothing was too much for them. Angie was in charge and knew how to be there! Quietly went about the job, with good effect.Thank you all very much, from all the ladies, we will be back

I stayed with my mother & my Grand daughter for one night while we visited Loch Ness. My Grand daughter was delighted to see the 'Scooby-Doo' movie episode framed on the wall, since this was why she'd wanted to go to Loch Ness in the first place after seeing it on the TV (we all chose a location on our 4 night Scottish stay).
My mother was in a separate building which concerned me a little but was actually ok. I would suggest anyone with mobility issues ring ahead since it's situated on a quite a steep incline. Both the main building & the part where Mum stayed had a significant amount of stairs & steps. (Incidentally, check which Loch Ness Tour you are with as the one we went on, although a fantastic experience, was marred by the mini bus being built with an aisle only suitable for anorexic super models to glide through!). I felt a little surprised that the Hotel was a little tired & shabby looking as this is such a famous part of Scotland. Generally it was quite satisfactory for our needs.

Visited in early April 2014. The staff on reception are really nice and friendly. Room was good, only downside for me is that the bathroom decoration is really dated, however the facilities themselves are in fine working order.

Wi-fi is problematic in rooms, working only intermittently but this wasn't a huge issue as it works fine in public areas.

Parking great and free of charge.

This hotel is an ideal base to explore Loch Ness and the surrounding areas.

On arriving we were a little disappointed as the pictures on line had lead us to believe that the hotel had views of the loch. The very 80s styling and decor (including avocado bathroom suite) were also a little off putting but that was just on the surface. On settling in we found the room was warm and comfortable. Both room and bathroom were spotlessly clean and there was an abundance of hot water which was much needed after a chilly, rainy day. The food in both the bistro and the downstairs coffee shop was good and reasonably priced. The location perfect as a base for exploring. Highly recommended.

This review good easily have been a 4 star review. The car park was great, reception and check in were fine and the evening meal and the breakfast were excellent.

However, the rooms were a good size, but quite dated, a minute TV and the bathroom was about 30 years out of date. Even these negatives should have still earned the hotel 4 stars. The big issue myself and a colleague had was that the walls were paper thin, every noise in every room could be heard. A group of students must have gotten up and gone down stairs a dozen times. Then a drunk came back to his room at about 1.30am and then promptly vomited later in the night, all as if it was happening in my room.

Nice hotel, just don't expect a good nights sleep.

Room Tip: Take war plugs
