We only had one night to spend near Loch Ness, but after checking into Glenkirk, we wished it was more. The fact that it is a remodeled kirk (church) was only the first of many excellent features of Glenkirk. The B&B has ample parking out front, a welcoming entryway, and a great gathering room with a TV, games, books, games, and tea/biscuits. Our room was amazing: immaculate, four-star hotel quality furnishings and linen, decent size bathroom, clean, and the perfect size for our family of three.
Breakfast was a real treat, and our hosts, Fiona and Ross Urquhart, were gracious, friendly, helpful, and just plain great people. Fiona's porridge was scrumptious, as were the rest of the breakfast fare. Ross was quick with a recommendation and a story in the morning, and produced maps of Scotland showing the traditional clan homelands when we inquired.
Glenkirk is a short walk into the village, so we didn't need to use our car until we had to (sadly) check out the following morning. The next time we need to stay anywhere near Loch Ness, we will definitely stay here again.
