The hotel is well located,5min away from urqhart castle. However i found it very expensive. We paid 70£ for a double room and the breakfast was not included. When i booked through booking.com I knew that breakfast was not included but when i was at the hostel and i saw how impersonal it was the place (rooms are not cosy at all and smell off humidity) i realized that the price we has paid was too high. I am sorry but i cannot recommend this accommodation.

At first I was delighted when I saw how close to the walking route this bed & breakfast was but the downside is that without transport it's a bit of a walk into town for food and drink. This wasn't a family home - the house was not lived in, purely run as a business and it showed in the cold, impersonal feel of the place. The rooms were basic and clean enough although the (small)bathroom could use a makeover - that said the shower was powerful enough with plenty of hot water. Bed not particularly comfortable and furnishings cheap and cheerful. That said it had everything you needed and nothing extra but was no cheaper (and in some cases more expensive) than far superior B&Bs we stayed. Payment was taken on arrival which I found unusual although not a problem. Breakfast was nice and freshly cooked and served to you and you helped yourself to cereal, tea, coffee, orange juice and toast. The only saving grace this place had was in the host Suzanne who, hard pushed as she was, did her best to look after us all and make sure everyone had what they needed before leaving for the night. Adequate, basic functional are the words i'd use to describe it and I would not return, preferring somewhere more homely and inviting for my money - if I wanted a hostel i'd want to pay hostel prices.

Great place to stay, with an exceptional host in Suzanne. The rooms were lovely and clean, the bed was comfortable and the peace and quiet was exceptional. The views were great. Suzanne made the whole stay perfect, and breakfast kept us going all day. Would thoroughly recommend this place, which offered exceptional value for money.

Thanks Suzanne, we WILL be back.

Karen & Derek

Room Tip: All the rooms were great. No frills and perfect quiet.

We stopped a night on the way to Inverness. Our sat nav had problems finding the place - take a tip from us, ignore the sat nav and read the road signs!

The rooms was good value and a hearty breakfast was included. Suzanne met us at the door and nothing was too much trouble for her.

The dining room/lounge area has comfortable, stylish seating and the free wi-fi is fast.

Overall, nothing but praise and we would visit again.

The Lodge is good for bikers/walkers/hikers and if you want a straightforward, no frills stay the Lodge is ideal. I wouldn't call it a guest house, it has more of a hostel feel. The walls were very thin - take ear plugs if you don't want to hear the conversations in the lounge or the guests next door when you are in your room!

Pluses - Susanne, who was very helpful and friendly, and the accommodation was clean and freshly decorated.
