This place had the best pub grub in the village. Short menu all the usual stuff. We have fish & chips and gammon & chips. Both were good.

This is a gem of a place. Situated right on the locks of the Caledonian Canal in Fort Augustus, it is welcoming and has excellent staff looking after you from the minute you walk in the door. We were lucky to get the seats beside the roaring log fire (just what we needed after a soaking in the rain)!

After being served a great pint, I ordered the Fish and Chips, my wife had the Tuna steak and the kids shared Macaroni cheese. My fish was excellent, just flaked away when you cut through it, my wife's tuna steak was slightly overdone for me, but in her eyes, just perfect and the kids were both stuffed from a single kids portion of macaroni!

The menu is definitely pub grub, rather than a la carte dining but it does exactly what it is advertises itself as. A great little pub restaurant. We'll definitely be back!

Nice little pub on the lock of the Caledonian Canal, good food, and a nice selection of outdoor books to peruse, like Big Walks to see where you've been.

Was recommended this place by the owners of the accomodation we were staying in as being the best place to eat in Fort Augustus. Its in a good location right on the lock, but thats about as far as it goes. Food was distinctly average, i had fish and chips, missus had the burger (which looked like it had come straight from the value range at the local supermarket), and the girls had the ubiquitous Macaroni Cheese. No real ale and surly vacuous staff - all to eager to clear the table without saying a word.
