“Wonderful place”
Reviewed 6 May 2018 for a stay in April 2018

Just come back from a wonderful week in the Boys dormitory. To start we were met by Simon who took us on a tour round the Abbey and advised on places to visit and eat nearby. He then took us up to the apartment and explained the equipment etc. The apartment was gorgeous, very spacious, had everything you could need and was also spotlessly clean. There was even a complementary bottle of champagne in the fridge to compensate as the pool was going to be out of action for one day which was not a problem for us. There is plenty to see and do round about but we wouldn't have minded spending more time in the lovely apartment if the weather had been bad. There are 75 steps up to the apartment but is no problem as there are landings/windows so you can stop to admire the view should you need to. Definitely planning on returning.

“Magical”
Reviewed 19 March 2018 for a stay in March 2018

We have just returned from our 9th visit to this wonderful apartment. No matter where else we travel to in the world, the Boys Dorm draws us back. It is unique, with amazing views and sits in a wonderful location. Perfectly situated for walking, touring or relaxing alongside Loch Ness.

Mark and Laurie have given great attention to detail when furnishing the apartment, it’s both beautiful and interesting.

Do go and see for yourself, but please don’t book when we want to go

“Wow!Wow!Wow!”
Reviewed 11 February 2018 for a stay in February 2018

This place has it all! We spent three fantastic days at this amazing apartment, which as advertised is very spacious, has all the facilities to use as a home and has the most unbelievable, enviable and interrupted view of Loch Ness that you can only dream of! It is better than it is described and photographed and the extra little bits of service, makes the whole experience special. The owner Mark makes personal contact and ensures you have all the information you require and upon arrival we were met by Simon, who with Charles gave us a wonderful reception and checked that every need was met during our stay. We have both travelled worldwide, but this apartment, location and hospitality has captured our hearts. A MUST PLACE TO STAY!! We will be returning next year!

WOW, wow, wow, what a review, thank you from the bottom of our hearts! We had to pinch ourselves when we first found this magical apartment over 12 years ago back when the abbey was in a tired rundown state, and to this day we never take for granted how fortunate we are to own such a wonderful property in this now fully restored amazing historic lochside building! And when our guests appreciate it as much as we do, it really means the world to us. We look forward to welcoming you back next year to the highlands.

“Fabulous stay!!”
Reviewed 31 August 2017 for a stay in August 2017

We spent five nights in mid August. Reception was good and we were given a tour of the Abbey, amenities and escorted to the apartment. The apartment is beautiful, immaculately clean and offered the most amazing view of the loch, valley and mountains!! Milk, coffee, tea and sugar were provided. We did some light shopping at the Landis in town and prepared breakfast several days. The kitchen is fully stocked and you would be able to prep a gourmet meal if you chose. This location is perfect, we did trips to Fort William, Inverness and the surrounding area with ease. We would definitely recommend The Boys Dormitory to anyone!!! Well done!

“Perfect apartment in a stunning location!”
Reviewed 6 August 2017 for a stay in July 2017

When we arrived we were greeted by a very friendly chap called Simon who gave us a tour of the Abbey and it's amenities including various activities such as table tennis, pool, snooker, and even a large outdoor chess set! The apartment is up a long flight of stairs and is immaculate, elegantly furnished and has a stunning view of the abbey grounds and Loch Ness. The walk into Fort Augustus takes two minutes and is a hub of activity, from the various eating places, gift shops, a food store and of course Loch Ness itself with its boat trips and range of locks where crowds would gather to watch the various boats come through. It's a great base from which to visit local attractions: Foyers Falls, Plodda Falls ( with its jaw dropping waterfall platform), and Eilean Donan castle are well worth a visit, plus there are plenty of local walks and trails to do.
On the other hand, it is such a lovely apartment and the Abbey and grounds are so beautiful it can be tempting to just have a lazy day and admire the scenery!
As you have gathered we enjoyed our holiday immensely and would wholeheartedly recommend this holiday rental to any couple seeking a room with a view, relaxation, and a great base from which to explore the surrounding area and beyond! Thank you, also, to the owners for the complimentary pint of milk, shortbread and bottle of bubbly we found waiting for us. Much appreciated!

I don't think I have ever relaxed as much as I did in this truly wonderful place. we both needed it with the stresses and strains of work. From the moment we arrived the stresses had vanished and the chilling began. It was much bigger than it looked on the pics on line so I was doubly impressed. The apartment or as we called it penthouse was furnished and kitted out to the highest standard. Yes it has 75 steps to climb from bottom to top but well worth it and kept us fit.
The view over the Loch was totally amazing we could have sat looking out all day.
As you can imagine many lovely walks to be had and the guys playing the bagpipes on the way was lovely.
We visited the local pubs, The Bothy which was good but The Lock Inn was our favourite as the food was fabulous, atmosphere great and staff very friendly.

Over the road is a petrol station with a great sized shop for everything you need including a post office. Plus other small shops selling gifts and things.

Would we return, hell yes
