We booked this hotel for our wedding anniversary weekend and was wanting something a little bit special for the occasion. I paid £60 to upgrade the room but I have to say if our room was an upgrade I wouldn't have liked to have seen the normal rooms. Luckily we bought a deal from KGB so the overall price inc dinner on one night was only £189. I think I would have refused to pay if it had of been full price.
I love traditional decor but our room was shabby. Wallpaper was peeling back in places and it looked grubby. The shower was useless so we could only use the bath in the room and the four poster bed creaked like crazy!!!! Not good on a romantic weekend away! On the first night we had the sound of numerous children running around above us for at least half an hour and on the second night the hotel lost all power at 11pm for the evening so we were left using our phones as lighting with nothing else to do. Granted the power loss wasn't the hotels fault but it wasn't even mentioned when we left.
The meal was mainly good... I had twice baked cheese soufflé to start which was delicious, as was the sticky toffee pudding. The steak however was not below par taking into consideration the price (around the £18 mark) If this hadn't have been included in our stay I would have sent it back. We were the only people eating in the restaurant so it lacked atmosphere therefore we made the decision to eat elsewhere on the 2nd night.
The journey to fort Augustus is around 25-30 mins and the road isn't the best in places. If you are visiting the area to visit Loch Ness I would recommend staying in Fort Augustus as Craigdarroch is too far out of the way and doesn't really make up for that with what it has to offer. If we hadn't have had a lovely day out at lochness and a stunning meal at the Lovat the trip would have been a complete waste of time.

Want through a KGB deal. Excellent value for money. It's in a lovely location. The hotel staff where friendly and helpful. The food was very nice, bar is friendly and welcoming. We will definitely go back, especially if another deal comes up, we couldn't fault it.

Craigdarroch House manages to retain the charm of a country house hotel without any of the stuffiness and exorbitant prices you can sometimes come across in that kind of place . We stayed in one of the bigger rooms (number 4) at the front of the hotel with breath-taking views of Loch Ness. It was beautifully furnished, spotlessly clean and well worth the extra £15 we paid. During our visit we found all of the staff to be incredibly friendly and helpful, from Christa who booked us in, the lovely guy running the bar, the lady who served us dinner and the obviously very talented chef, all appeared to really enjoy working here. The meal we had in the restaurant (there are more casual meals to be had in the bar) was quite superb and we were very pleasantly surprised at the very reasonable prices both for meals, wine and drinks generally. We will definitely stay here next time we are in the vicinity.

Room Tip: Pay a little extra for a loch view room at the front of the hotel. Give the chilli vodka a miss !!

We booked for 3 nights in september, our room was dark and dreary. We booked room overlooking the loch.
We had a back room, after several complaints we were moved to a room at the front of the hotel for one night only.
After travelling all day , we were expecting a meal in the restaurant on our first night, to be told we hadn't booked
beforehand. we arrived early evening, tables were vacant.
The bar was noisy and dirty not that of a 4 star hotel. We hadn't eaten all day, thinking we could have a meal at the hotel.
Then next norning feeling really hungry, we were told we had to pay extra for a cooked breakfast.
After 2 nights we had enough and left, never to go back.
Staff were unhelpful.

We have just returned from our stay at this hotel. The staff were very friendly and more than willing to help and had plenty of advice on the best walks etc. Food was cooked fresh to order every day. Dog friendly hotel too which helps as there are lots of nice walks nearby and fall of foyers is about a 15 minute walk from the hotel too! Would Definitely go back

Room Tip: Pick a room with a loch view :) it may be more expensive but it is 100% worth it!

I have just returned from a fabulous week at Loch Ness shores caravan sites. The whole area is soooooo relaxing and the campsite was one of the best I have been to, and I am a seasoned caravans. Although it is new, I would put it on par with the highest ranking.
Whilst there, my husband, myself and our very happy dog had a daily walk to the hotel. I can only describe it as heaven. The views are magnificent, the staff are friendly and the prices were more than reasonable. THANKS.

My new husband and myself could not fault this hotel at all. Friendly staff, great food and drink, amazing view on the loch from our room (room 10) huge bed ( I had to climb on it) and it was so comfy. The interior of the hotel was lovely with old style decor. Definately reccomend to everyone. X
