We picked this hotel for an ovenight stay because we had an excellent Dinner here in May 2013.
Good welcome at reception upon arrival. Very pleased with our room, the bar, and Breakfast.
Unfortunately the Dinner this year was disappointing.

Sunday night despite our landlady booking for 7.30 there was lots of under breath muttering and we were asked to take a seat in the lounge for 10 minutes . 45 minutes later we received menus . An hour later our order was taken and then shown to table. starters of black pudding ( Stornaway) with goats chees and red onion marmalade was excellent. Medium rare steak unfortunately was well done and fish in the fish and chips was a bit dry. Wine Dry river Shiraz was very good and not over priced. TV in bar adjacent to lounge and dining room was blaring away with Pirates of the Caribbean to no audience in particular which didn't do much for the ambience.
We decided to give the place a second try .This time no problem with the booking, the restaurant was not so busy so perhaps the previous night had stretched their capacity and their Bonhomie
TV still blaring out some dreadful film at full blast to no audience at all

Scallops thewaitress confessed were frozen so went for Crayfish salad plus on 15 cucumber slices fine if you like cucumber but I don't but the waitress brought leaf salad without demur.
Sea bass with tagliatelle with prawns had plenty of big prawns
Salmon with sauté potatoes was delivered without garlic as requested and very nice
Australian Pinot Grigio quite pleasant £15.50
So a better experience second time round.

Your landlady did not book a table for you. When she phoned it was explained quite clearly that there were no tables available at 7.30pm. We offered an alternative time which was declined. So when you turned up anyway the under breath muttering was staff discussing how and when we could accommodate you. Trying to help. Apologies if you had to wait a while. the waitress did explain. We didn't give you menus until we were nearly ready for you because we had a full restaurant and they were in use. The two young lads who dined in front of the TV chose the programme (we gave them the remote) and when they left we never turned it over as no-one seemed bothered, and staff were certainly too busy to even notice what was on. If you objected to Pirates of the Carribean you should have said so at the time. We would have been happy to turn it over, down or off. Despite your annoyance you opted to come back a second time so thank you for that, I'm pleased you gave us a second chance but I have to say, if you and your landlady had only communicated with each other a bit better you might have had a better experience the first time too. After arriving late in Invermoriston we were lucky to get a table in the restaurant of this hotel. The food was great, lovely salmon with a great ginger and garlic sauce. The service was very friendly, you can either choose a table near the bar or in the restaurant. I highly recommend this place.

Our group of 16 spent 4 wonderful days and 3 restful nights at the Glenmoriston Arms...and I must add that it was the highlight of our stay in beautiful Scotland. Ailsa and her cordial staff treated us to true highland hospitality, Chef Paul treated us to amazing meals, and the well appointed whiskey bar - as well as the cosy reception room with the wood burning stove - made us feel truly at home. Did I mention the beautiful tiled bathrooms with the Kohler sinks and toilets? How about the inhouse Ceilidh or the Great Glen Way right outside your door? Too much to mention and too good a spot to miss.

First, I would like to say that I am not much of a reviewer; I only ever choose to comment on a hotel or product if I am truly and utterly happy with the experience, and that was more than the case here, so the Glenmoriston Arms deserves every praise.
I stayed for five nights in late April, choosing to use the small hotel as a base to explore Loch Ness and surroundings.
The location is great; in Invermoriston, the roads to Inverness, Fort William and the Isle of Skye cross, so you have a direct connection to just about everything.
Arrived late due to a diverted flight and a long drive and was very warmly welcomed, then shown to a lovely, cozy and traditionally decorated room at the back of the building. Very comfortable double bed, and a great bathroom with a superb shower. Everything was kept spotlessly clean throughout my entire stay.
Breakfast the next morning was cooked to order, and it included choices like Smoked Scottish Salmon with eggs, Porridge, and a full Scottish Breakfast including Black Pudding - quality was impeccable, as was the case with every meal I had. There is variety of dishes to choose from for dinner, and everything I have eaten during my stay was absolutely wonderful, hot and fresh. The bar features a hundred different kinds of Whisky - it was a great experience to have my taste in Whisky educated, and I found a couple of new favourites thanks to Ailsa, the lovely and very knowledgeable hotel owner.
Speaking of staff, everyone was genuinely friendly and very efficient. When a problem with my car came up, Ailsa could not have been more helpful, phoning the local garage and making sure my stay was disrupted as little as possible by the issue (which thankfully turned out to be very minor... all the panic for nothing...). Her sightseeing suggestions were great, and as she is a local, she truly knows her way around and can point you to some spots off the beaten track.
The hotel also has a little lounge with a fireplace, and there is nothing like sitting there after a long day of adventure, have a drink and warm up next to the fire.
All in all, I wholeheartedly recommend the Glenmoriston Arms to anyone keen on having an enjoyable time in the Highlands - I have another holiday coming up in October, and I will most definitely be back then!

We stayed here for one night over the recent Easter weekend. The location is a little remote - but was a good base for us, we were heading to Port Augustus the following morning.

The hotel is set in a quiet area. On arrival we had a warm welcome from our host.

We were in room 1. Our room was clean, large and with very comfortable beds. The bathroom was excellent and the shower was amazing.

We ate dinner in the dining room, our meals were good and good value. The table service was excellent.

Breakfast was also excellent.
