Stayed here for 1 night only on an "itison" deal & it was 1st class from the welcome to the service we recieved from "Chris" who really did know & do his job well.
We were taken to our room which had a mountain view which was just tremendous, we could have played golf on the hotels very own pitch & putt course or hired bicycles for a cycle run.
The room was clean & tidy, warm & comfy, the bed was the most comfy bed we slept in all week.
The hotel has a rolling maintenance program so there was a little odour of fresh paint but that does not worry us.
The food was out of this world, tasty, well prepared & presented, compliments to the chef !
Reading the hand book in the room lets you know what has happened since the present owners took over in 2004 which is very interesting & not many hotels let you know as much as coul House Hotel.
This hotel is very quiet which makes for a good night sleep, breakfast was the best by far, well worth waiting on.
We left promising that we would go back in the not too distant future, Thank you so much "Coul House Hotel" !!!

Room Tip: Give it a go !!!

This is a really special place. I went with my sister and we used it as a base to explore the Highlands over a long weekend. What everyone says is true, Stuart and Chris go out of their way to make sure their guests have a great time. The downstairs of the hotel has been gorgeously refurbished, the lounge, bar and dining room are just beautiful places to be. The bedroom we had was wonderful too, with a stunning view out to the mountain. Ok the bathroom is on the list of still-to-be-renovated but it was sparklingly clean with a lovely electric shower - we're quite fussy and we loved it!
We very much recommend that you have a thermos of soup for your packed lunch, it was the most delicious soup we've ever eaten and when we mentioned how much we enjoyed it the lovely staff even gave us some to take home, what a treat! Nothing was too much trouble and if you book a weekend at Coul House hotel you won't regret it. Gorgeous.

Room Tip: Get a mountain view if you can they're something special.

I have just returned from this wonderful hotel after having a lovely relaxing time. It's such a comfortable hotel with staff who go out of their way to make you feel at home. Stuart was so welcoming and worked along with his staff to make sure all the guests were having a wonderful time. I felt I had joined a lovely house party. The bar drinks were made beautifully, just as we like and the fabulous olives and nibbles much appreciated.
The food was exceptionally tasty and the little touches such as home made bread, tablet/shortbread & preserves make such a difference. Our room was warm and cosy on what proved to be a very snowy weekend. Just can't wait to return !

Room Tip: Choose a Mountain view large double if you can, but the rooms are really secondary to the wonderful...

We decided on the Coul House to get married, after staying in the hotel over 20 years ago and as dogs are now welcome, that for us was just the icing on the cake!!!! We had fond memories of this place, but were so impressed when we arrived with all the changes that Stuart & Susannah, the current owners have made, whilst still managing to retain it's original charm. This for a wedding venue, just couldn't be better, the setting, the service, the tasty food and the general warm & relaxed atmosphere of this place, not to mention the unique reception rooms, just has to be experienced. After walking some of the woodland walks with our dog around the hotel grounds, our four poster bed was so comfortable to come back to ,and we had a separate dressing room attached, with beautiful mountain views. All in all we couldn't rate this place more highly, whether you go for a relaxing break, or like us, choose it to celebrate a special occasion, you won't be disappointed!! We fell in love with this place over 20 years ago, and we have fallen in love with it all over again with thanks to Stuart, Susannah and all the staff for making our wedding day one that we will certainly cherish.

Room Tip: recommend rooms with mountain views.

Just back from a 2 day stay at Coul House. We have stayed at many country hotels throughout the UK but this one is easily the most spectacular and unique by far. Cannot fault this family run, stunning country retreat. The food is absolutely outstanding, the public rooms beautiful and the location perfect for the outdoors. We were able to share this wonderful place with our beloved dog too. The homemade tablet and shortbread with tea was a real treat. We have never reviewed before but felt we had to let people know of this true highland gem. 5 star luxury retreat through and through.

Room Tip: Book a large double as small double is really too small for what you pay, which may detract from the...
