This B&B is outstanding. Our room was beautifully furnished with everything we needed (though no shampoo, oddly!) including fruit, water, shortbread and tea-making facilities. Our twin beds were very comfortable with high quality linens. Breakfast was generous and comprehensive with attentive service. Most welcoming hosts, friendly and helpful. We can highly recommend a stay here in a unique Victorian spa village.

Craigvar is literally in the centre of Strathpeffer overlooking the square so very convenient for the local places of interest. It is an impressive, clean, country establishment and the owners were very welcoming. Our rooms were spacious and comfortable and our double rm overlooked the square so excellent for viewing the bagpipers display on Saturday the evening! In keeping with the age of the house, furniture was of the antique squeaking variety but could probably do with a bit of t.l.c. or even replacing with something a bit more comfy. Lounge available. Good breakfast next to the grand piano!

One word of warning re: Strathpeffer - if you are NOT booked into a dinner, bed & breakfast establishment there is, NO WHERE TO EAT IN THE EVENING at reasonable cost, especially if you are reluctant to battle it out as a non resident with the large coach parties at one of the local hotels. Unbelievably there is no cosy pub down the road or even a friendly fish & chip shop! As we were reluctant to drive anywhere we resorted to sandwiches from the supermarket - and we weren't the only ones!! Evidently the Red Poppy Restaurant normally fits the bill but is currently moving to a new location in the village... you have been warned.

Strathpeffer is a wonderful little Victorian village, where (with respect to the good things such as harmony between nature and architecture, hospitality and peace) time seems to have stood still. Craigvar is a beautiful building, with an interior that has been lovingly restored to former grandeur. The owners take pride in warm hospitality, a superb breakfast, spotlessly clean rooms, and in helping you with any questions you may have. Our stay, however short, was a joy. Strongly advised!

I chose this B&B by accident, and a happy accident it was! Craigvar is a lovingly restored home in a beautiful, quaint village filled with history. It's not hard to see why the Victorians believed this spa town would restore their health - it's still a wonderful mental health tonic! Arthur and Margaret are delightful, thoughtful hosts, with 'old world' warmth and charm. The home's appointments are impeccable, and sparklingly clean. The atmosphere was calm and inviting, and I was fortunate to meet friendly, interesting fellow guests. This is an experience not to be missed!

We only stayed here for one night but thoroughly enjoyed our time. Very friendly and welcoming. Beautiful room with huge bathroom, lovely to have choice of bath and shower. Great choice for breakfast, delicious and beautifully presented. Would definitely recommend and will be sure to return. Strathpeffer a delight.

a delightful surprise. We had the peach room which came with its own large dressing room complete with writing desk as well as a lovely large bathroom complete with a walk in power shower. Everything was spotless. We had a bowl of fruit in the room as well as homemade shortbread and a decanter of sherry. Beds very comfortable. Our host and hostess were most welcoming and recommended a nice restaurant for dinner, the red poppy. breakfast the next morning was amongst the best we have ever eaten. A very large menu to choose from and everything perfectly cooked and presented. The price charged was most reasonable. we are now looking for reasons to visit strathpeffer again so we can stay there again.

Room Tip: all the rooms are excellent
