“Memorable afternoon Tea”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 April 2014

The Torridon, set in a most beautiful part of the world, was the location for a very acceptable afternoon tea. It was served in the lounge and we had the added benefit of being seated at the large picture window which afforded speculation views over the loch to the magnificent mountains beyond. Service was punctual warm and efficient. We enjoyed copious amounts of tea and coffee, sandwiches, scones, shortbread and sponge. Most enjoyable.

Having spent a week in Lochcarron, we were very lucky to book the last free room in the hotel for the Saturday night. The Torridon Inn (our usual choice when staying with the children) was full, and as selfish as it may sound, we normally like to keep a stay at the hotel as an adult only treat! However, the look on their faces when we were shown up to Room 3, was a moment to treasure. Our 9 year old daughter thought she'd become a princess overnight when she saw the beautiful four poster bed and the freestanding roll top bath.

The view from the windows on a magnificent sunny afternoon is just stunning, and we were able to get a bird's eye view of the clay pigeon shooting. We headed down to the drawing room for tea, coffee, hot chocolate and delicious carrot cake and chocolate brownies. The kids spent a pleasurable half hour attempting to play dominoes in front of the fire before we headed out for a stroll to the boat house, and a quick game of pooh sticks on the bridge. We came back via the inn where a rather protracted but highly good value game of pool ensued!

We went back to the inn for dinner and had a delicious meal of mussels, haggis, steak and ale pie and pork belly with mustard mash. A local band were playing in the bar, but as much as it would've been lovely to stay, we decided to go back to our room having borrowed a DVD for the kids to watch in their lovely cosy beds.

After a great night's sleep, we all went downstairs to enjoy a hearty breakfast. The Easter Bunny had even hopped by to deliver boxes of mini eggs to the table! Despite being full of Weetabix, boiled eggs and soldiers, (daughter) and cornflakes, a cooked breakfast and toast (son), it was amazing how quickly these disappeared! Having said that, we managed to demolish quite a few toasted hot cross buns ourselves!

We booked an archery session on the lawn for midday. The weather was just absolutely fantastic with bright blue cloudless skies. I was a little nervous about undertaking an activity I'd never done before, but Tom the instructor was so friendly and immediately put me at ease. By the end of the hour I'd actually become quite hooked on trying to beat my husband (unsuccessfully, more's the pity!) The kids both thought Tom was great and he really inspired them to take it up as a hobby when we got home. (Looking for an archery club is my next job after finishing this review!) We really enjoyed the session and look forward to coming back to try kayaking next!

All too soon it was time to check out and we had a nice chat with Bridget who as was as friendly and efficient as always. Thank you to all the staff for another wonderful (if too short) stay. We can't wait to come back again for our 8th visit, it gets harder to leave every time!

We stayed at the Torridon Boathouse for a week in the middle of our 3 week Honeymoon and it was the highlight of our trip! The boathouse has breathtaking views, is secluded, has comfy beds, and is overall cozy. We must have seen a dozen rainbows a day out of the front windows; the view was ever changing. There were games we played in the atrium, and when we didn't feel like cooking it was a short drive to the hotel with 2 restaurant options and a scotch bar. We even partook in a couple of the activities offered (archery & hiking). It really was a dream honeymoon destination and we definitely hope to return someday.

Just returned home after our stay at the wonderful Torridon. We only have positive things to say, wonderful food, excellent service, lovely room, magnificent views. Thank you for caring for us and for your advice on walks in the area. We were lucky enough to spot a sea eagle on our walk today. Forgot to mention the lovely weather :) We look forward to a return visit. Thank you.

I think this was my fourth visit over the last ten yo twelve years or so. It's a real favourite. Location is unbeatable. The good is beautiful. Very imaginative. Service is friendly and attentive but not intrusive. The rooms are very comfortable and equipped.
We tend to go for the walking ( some of the best are on the doorstep) but the hotel also offers an array of activities including archery and guided walks (and more) which I haven't sampled but appear well run and good value.
It's one of my favourite places and we'll be back.

The Torridon Hotel is an incredible place to stay. The setting is both dramatic and stunningly beautiful. The Hotel is managed and run by an incredibly committed and professional team, who will make your stay truly memorable. The Hotel's Manager is Colleen whose knowledge of whisky and fine wines is really impressive. We were met at the car by the Assistant Manager, Ross, who knew my name and welcomed us personally to the Hotel.

The attention to detail is awe-inspiring - I had arranged for flowers and a single malt to be waiting for us as a surprise. Both were in our suite on arrival - the card accompanying the flowers was beautifully hand written - not just printed out. The hot water bottle in the bed was also unexpected and very welcome.

Dinner in the hotel is a joy and a culinary experience. The quality is truly exceptional and the service impeccably provided by our Waiter - Luke. We also ate in the Torridon Inn, where we found the same high levels of excellent service - along with some very nice beer!

I have stayed in many hotels around the world, including 5* types - I have NEVER felt compelled to write a review before - but the quality, friendliness, efficiency, kindness and attention to detail requires me to go into print.

We WILL be back!!

The Torridon Hotel is set on the shores of Loch Torridon in the awe inspiring landscape of the Torridon mountains. A visit to the hotel is a memorable experience at any time of year. There are a range of activities available: guided hill walks, fishing, archery etc.(see the website). In the winter months enjoy a bracing walk with spectacular views of the snow capped mountains then return to the hotel to settle down in front of the log fire with a single malt. Hotel staff are exceptionally well trained, warm, welcoming and attentive. The restaurant provides the highest quality meals served in the beautifully designed dining rooms. Dinner in the Torridon is an experience not to be missed. Menus are varied and include a comprehensive selection of locally sourced sea food and venison. The wine list is also comprehensive with knowledgable staff who can help with the appropriate choice to compliment your meal. Next door to the Hotel and also belonging to the Hotel is the Ben Damph bar and restaurant where you can enjoy the more informal atmosphere with local ales and good food. If you have a bucket list the Torridon is a must!
