“A Birders Delight”

This was our 4th Autumn Gold Trip with the wonderful Shetland Wildlife and it didn't fail to please. The Hotels we stayed at offered good food and comfortable accommodation . Our guide David Fairhurst was as usual excellent , he's a top birder and excellent with the clients ensuring everyone sees the birds, he is also very tolerant. Shetland Wildlife is an excellent company offering value for money wildlife holidays, There is something special about Shetland which draws you to return year after year. In fact such is the draw we have already booked for next year with Shetland Wildlife, if you haven't been birding in Shetland Give it a go.

“Autumn Gold week”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 October 2015

Another brilliant birdwatching week with Shetland Wildlife, with an excellent guide who combined expertise with sociability, and for whom nothing was too much trouble. As on my previous two trips, I was once again so impressed at the way Shetland Wildlife go the extra mile to make sure their groups are able to get absolutely the most out of the trip.

“Autumn Gold trip”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 October 2015

The tour was excellent and although there were few birds around our guide made sure we saw everything there was to see. He was sensitive to the differing needs and wishes of the people within the group and managed to make all feel their needs were a priority. The hotels used were excellent (Spiggie and Baltasound) and the balance between locations could not be better. Well done Shetland Wildlife!

“Wonderful walking week with lots of wildlife and expert guide”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 July 2015

My fourth visit to Shetland and third trip with Shetland Wildlife and it just does not get any better! Wendy our guide was wonderful. Not only did she go out of her way to us experience as much as we could (otter hunt at 6.15 am! and Ceilidh in Unst) but she is so knowledgeable and has so much information to hand during the walks that every day was a very special day. From the puffins in Hermanness to the harbour porpoises at Yell ferry port to the seals everywhere(!), it was a fantastic week. Hugh and Michelle were on hand for any assistance. My luggage was left behind in Aberdeen and they sorted me out with coats, fleeces and waterproofs to help me out until the luggage arrived. What's more, we had wall-to-wall sunshine all week! Holidays just don't get any better than this!

“Outstanding wildlife week with expert guides”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 July 2015

Our first visit to Shetland and we can't wait to go again. Shetland Wildlife is an excellent company to travel with, the guides (Hugh and Wendy) are very friendly and have expert local knowledge and a deep understanding of nature and wildlife - they know just where to go to find particular species and the best times to see them. They are flexible and will vary the itinerary depending on the weather. And the hotels (Spiggie, and Baltasound on Unst) were good with excellent food and friendly staff. Highlights; early morning boat trip to the cliffs at Noss to see gannets, guillemots, seals and more; the Isle of Mousa for Black Guillemots by day and Storm petrels at midnight; wildflowers everywhere, and some very rare ones that our guides took us to see; puffins at Sumburgh Head, Corncrake on south mainland; Great Skuas and gannets on Unst; sunsets at 11pm; and sharing wildlife experiences within the group. Hermaness is a special place and it was good to have enough time to enjoy the magnificent scenery and wildlife, notably Red-throated Divers, and Fumars. One of the best holidays I have ever been on.
