“Fantastic treat!”
Reviewed 31 July 2014

This was the first of 5 locations on our family trip.
The Eisenhower Apt was fantastic! Arrived super early (at 9a) and after only an hour the staff had our rooms ready. Everyone was so nice and helpful.
I would absolutely suggest for an overnight or two stay!
Not much to do off the grounds, but to relax.

Room Tip: This was a special 30 year anniversary, so we felt money was no object. Stayed in the Eisenhower su...

Thank you Billy, David, and Ian for an exceptional stay at Culzean Castle. This was my daughter-in-law's birthday and you made it so special for her.
Ian...thank you for the tour..after hours even!
Billy, thank you for the map to the distillery.
The gardens and the service were perfect.
Every one should make reservations to eat dinner there because it is a distance into town and eat at a restaurant.

My family was a bit museum and city-fatigued from touring London, Edinburgh and Glasgow ... so we hired a driver and toured an hour from Glasgow the the amazing work of art known as Culzean Castle. The first hint is at the welcome center where you see a bit of the castle on the cliff up the shore. You then walk to a faux ruined arch that frames the castle brilliantly, and following the path to the right through the arch you turn to enjoy gardens that border on tropical. Like a Garden of Eden on the coast of Scotland. Walking up by the stables and to the castle, you know this place was built to impress. And the architect, Robert Adams, did that brilliantly.
We toured inside the castle and found the guides in each room engaging, interesting and sincere. So often they are stationed to make sure you do not touch things, the guides here truly are glad for the conversation and a curious mind as well. We were fortunate to go early with few crowds so one very engaging guide showed us an acoustically perfect circular room and then brought us up to tour the Eisenhower apartments on the top floor. All very impressive and very interesting.
My family (wife and 2 daughters, 14 & 19) enjoyed the tour and visit immensely and want to come back to stay next time we are back in Scotland. Highly recommend the tour of the Castle and the Gardens ... and hope to review the accommodations at a later date.

Amazing experience, highly recommend!! Rooms are in an "apartment" on second floor of the castle. VERY private with a beautiful and large separate parlor for drinks, tea and sitting with guests staying overnight. Small den with television and good wi fi for guests to share. Rooms very large with period furniture. Dinner was excellent, top restaurant quality. Staff was incredible in terms of service, knowledge, friendliness and overall care. Grounds are beautiful with lots of walks and things to see and are open to apartment guests throughout stay. Views are unmatched with sweeping sea views from all windows. Wish castle tour open to apartment guests outside of normal hours but understand the security issues with doing so. For a one night stay, recommend getting there early enough to tour castle so you can enjoy afternoon tea. If not, have to wait until it opens next morning.

Room Tip: All rooms are beautiful. One of our rooms had a private hall bath versus ensuite which was fine but...

My brother and I booked one night in the Kennedy Room in the Eisenhower tower and it was absolutely an awesome experience. We arrived after 5 because we drove from Melrose Abbey and Stephanie greeted us and had saved our "tea" (we were starving and opted to do this as opposed to driving back thru the grounds to the next town). It was lovely, the little sandwiches, scones, cream and pastries were fresh and the tea was very good. We walked all over the grounds (beautiful sunny day) and relaxed in the upstairs parlor until close to sunset. The sunset on a day like that is stunning and we took way too many pictures. Our room had 2 comfortable twin beds, 2 high back chairs, fireplace, several pieces of furniture and 2 nightstands. The view from the room overlooked the clock tower and countryside to the north. Included in our stay was the tea, full breakfast the next morning (which was very good - lots of food) and a tour of the castle. The Kennedy room does not have an ensuite bathroom; however, it is just across the hall and is huge. Bath robes are provided. The bathroom had a large shower, tub, toilet and sink. The view from the bathroom was of the Firth of Clyde and Arran. The only negative thing is that the hot water did not last very long. I ran out (maybe took too long of a shower) and my poor brother did not have any hot water. I would stay again as it was such a wonderful, historical experience. Every staff member went out of their way to make our stay great.

Room Tip: I think the Kennedy room was the only one without a bathroom ensuite but it was not a big deal.

Being an avid gardener I absolutely loved touring the grounds and gardens here. The borders were stunning in the walled garden and the Castle was magnificent...especially the view over the water. We had lunch in the café and the soup was very tasty. Nice gift shop and walkways to explore. Toured the interior and enjoyed talking to the knowledgeable guides.
I would highly recommend spending the day here. We ran out of time and would liked to have walked down to the Glass works on the shore below.

Room Tip: We didn't stay there..just toured the Castle and gardens

We booked the Eisenhower apartment with 5 other couples for my 40th birthday celebrations. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left the whole experience was magical. The staff were attentive when needed but were mostly invisible, it was like having the castle to ourselves. Best time ever!
