“A Trip Back in Time”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 October 2013

We rode up to the Dragon several years ago when they first started out and were simply amazed at the friendliness, knowledge, care and concern exhibited by the hosts. Jane and Dennis are awesome people who, even though they are Yankees, have a very Southern personality. My wife and Jane bonded instantly and Dennis and I enjoyed talking about music. The amenities at that time were scarce, rustic and simple. It was a great stay and just what we needed. We did a lot of riding and came back to eat at the Dragon Pitt BBQ. This was another savory experience. Watching Dennis' style of BBQing was nothing less than palatable and the aroma.......ahhhhhh. We have planned another trip this week and plan on it being a very relaxing vacation. I understand there are more amenities in place than on our original visit. I really look forward to this trip and will report after this one.

Room Tip: All rooms are good, depending on your needs...This has nothing to do with rooms, but our original tr...

We really did like Dennis and Jane and they are great people. The information they had about the area was great and it was spot on. The rides Dennis recommended were great and directions to everything was right on. I doubt if we would stay there again. I thought the mattresses could have been better, we had 2 beds in our room and both sagged in the middle, our traveling partners had the same issue. We had a great breakfast there, I do wish the restaurant would have been open more especially since we heard so much about the Great BBQ, I know we missed a treat. We came in one night after they had closed and they were very kind and offered to make sandwiches we declined and went to the Tellico Marina and had dinner there. A place Jane had previously recommended for a good dinner and she was right. If we do get in that area again I would love to try the BBQ.

Room Tip: I did read all the reviews and thought it would be a great place. I did like the location at the No...

We ate lunch our first day at the South end. We were not impressed it was bad. We actually had no plans to eat at Dennis' restaurant. We actually had stopped next door to buy patches. The guy next door was not open so I went over to ask Dennis when he might open. Turned out that Dennis had the patches we wanted so we just purchased there and with Dennis being so helpful I decided to give Dennis' BBQ a try. It was very good and makes the guy at the other ends food look terrible. Dennis also gave us information on the Bald River Falls ride. The guy is first class, the restaurant is very good, and you won't find this kind of place on the every day path. Highly recommend this place go and enjoy some good lunch.

Recently on a vacation trip we stopped by the Dragon Pitt Inn to have lunch and the smoked pork was awesome. Jane the owner makes her own bbq sauce after Dennis smokes the pork. They both were quite friendly and informative of the area. Jane was nice enough to show me the hotel rooms, and I found that they were very clean and homey. I loved the look of the natural wood work that is in the rooms. We will definitely be back to enjoy a stay at the Dragon Pitt Inn.

I have been at the Dragon Pitt Inn for two years in a row. The owners are extremely helpful with directions from the surrounding areas and knowledgeable about hot spots in town. The hotel had everything we needed....t.v, fridge, coffee maker, tasty bbq from the restaurant, comfy beds and most of all WI-FI. We drove quite a distance to stay at this spot again, because the owners went out of their way to make sure our stay was good. They have very reasonable rates. I would highly recommend this hotel to my family members and friends. Jane and Dennis made us feel like family and I really appreciated that.

We traveled from Pennsylvania to ride the Dragon's Tail, Rt 129 in Tennessee and the Dragon Pitt Inn was a great place to stay. The Inn is at the junction of Rt 129 and Rt 72 about 12 miles from the Dragons Tail (Dennis, the Inn Keeper’s best time from the Inn to Deals Gap is 28 minutes). The Room was clean, there was coffee in the room, cable TV, Wi-Fi, AC, and a refrigerator. There is a covered area to park the bikes and a spot to drop your trailer. There is an attached BBQ outside restaurant that has great pulled pork, and the owners Dennis and Jane Dearing start a campfire every night. It was a great place to meet up with other riders, and compare routes and rides. Dennis and Jane were wonderful hosts and go out of their way to make sure your stay is comfortable. They provided maps and local information on some great roads and rides. It was a 5 star experience.
