Really enjoyed 2 nights here recently to attend a wedding at nearby Shieldhill Castle. Brand new, very very comfortable, well appointed and modern.
Extremely friendly and helpful owners, and a great breakfast.

Would love to stay again if in the area.

My family and I stayed here for 2 nights for a friends birthday party.
We were pleasantly surprised by the warm welcome and hospitality of both Eliane and John.
I stayed in the twin room (4) and my parents in the double (3). Both rooms were very comfortable and clean. The beds were very comfortable. Each room had adequate facilities including a hair dryer, shower gel, hand washes and creams, a tea tray and extra pillows.

There is an opportunity to order breakfast the night before and there is a nice selection ranging from fresh fruit to a full Scottish breakfast complete with haggis and black pudding.

The B&B is very close to the town. There is enough parking for 4 cars.

I would recommend this B&B to anyone!

We stayed at Elmsleigh B & B for one night and enjoyed it greatly. The bed was humungous and incredibly comfortable! Everything was spotless and very well looked after. The breakfast the next morning was really good and helped us get over the Christmas party hangovers!

My husband and I stayed at Elmsleigh Guest House on Saturday night to attend a party nearby.
We had a good welcome from John and Elaine. Accommodation generally of a high standard, very comfortable and clean and underpinned with a lovely breakfast. One improvement might be to put a high level blind on room 4, the absence of which could be a problem in the summer. Would definitely recommend this guest house and would stay again.

My husband and I stayed at the Elmsleigh Guest Lodge in Sept. '13 for a weekend getaway to the New Lanark/Biggar area. The Lodge is a short walking distance from the main street in Biggar.
The rooms are actually in a new addition off of the back of an historical home. The entrance to and from the rooms is entirely separate from the house, with a keyed entrance to this addition.

We were greeted by the owners upon arrival, and we were offered tea, which we happily accepted.

We stayed in an upstairs room, which requires walking up a curved staircase. There are sensor lights on a timer so that one can safely walk up the stairs.
The room was comfortable, but the weather was unseasonably warm, so I cannot attest to the room heating for comfort.
The "king size" bed compares to an American queen, but it was comfortable. There was plenty of storage space for personal items.

A hospitality tray with tea/coffee service was included, as well as a hair dryer.

There was a small HD television in the room, but we didn't watch television, so I have no idea how many stations were offered.

Free wi-fi was included.

The ensuite bathroom was large, and everything was immaculately clean.
The shower held a large bottle of shower cream, but no shampoo. The water was hot with great water pressure.
There was hand soap and lotion in large bottles on the sink.

The towels were large, but by no means "plush". They were adequate for their purpose.
No washcloths.

Breakfast was cooked to order if you liked. I had a beautiful fruit salad, and a lovely cheese omelet. Both were quite tasty. The owners grow much of their own produce which they use in some of the breakfast options.

The one surprise to me was the poor sound insulation in the room. We had the upstairs room, and could easily hear the conversation occurring in the room beneath us, even though it was obvious that the patrons in that room were not speaking loudly. Since the rooms are in a relatively new addition, I was surprised that there was not more sound cushioning. Since we prefer not to watch television, we both found it a bit disturbing to have to listen to the noise coming from the downstairs room tv, as well as the voices speaking.

There is a private parking lot in front of the house which is off the street. There is room for 4 cars, one for each room.

All in all, our stay was pleasant and comfortable for the short time that we actually stayed in the room.

We are always disappointed not to get 5 stars across the board, as we try very hard to excel in all aspects of our business. We are delighted that the majority of your experience was a positive one and must apologise for the sound insulation issue. It was an area which concerned me when the building was being built and I actually requested that the amount of insulating wool was doubled versus the architect's specification, plus the ceilings have two layers of plasterboard instead of one. However, it is pretty much impossible to test the effectiveness of sound deadening at the build stage, because once the floorboards are nailed down, the job is then complete. Also there are so many influencing factors after the event, like the type and thickness of the floor coverings used and the volume which guests have their TV at. Not sure what we can do to improve things now, other than request guests try to keep sounds levels low for the comfort of others.

Stayed here for 4 nights early July. Had origimally intended to stay just 3 nights were lucky to be able to extend by another night. John and Elaine were amazing hosts. Made us feel most welcome and very helpful. Nice modern rooms and great friendly service. Would recommend to anyone considering visiting Biggar, or as a base to visit the either Edinburgh or Glasgow as these can be easily done on day trips without parking hassles. So glad we found this place and did not stay in the pubs on the main street. Would definitely stay again if we are in the area.
