The service and care the whole team on the day was fantastic, the were so helpful and polite. The food was amazing and the portions were bang on. Accommodation was comfy and welcoming especially after a long day. Everything was clean and tidy and well maintained. The venue was set up to how wanted it and looked beautiful. Cannot praise it enough for making our day so special. Well worth a visit couples, business, family.

Room Tip: The Bridal Suite was well maintained and so comfy!

I stayed at The Royal Hotel for one night on business at the start of June. The receptionist was vert friendly on arrival and reserved me a table for dinner at a time which suited me and also kindly booked me a taxi for the following morning.

The food in the main restaurant is very good with a great selection of food and drinks to choose from. I couldn't fault my meal at all.

The hotel is a very old building with an old lift with metal cage type doors. I didn't use this and went up to my room by the stairs instead as I wasn't overly confident in how safe it looked. I was given a double room, 33, at the back of the hotel and at the end of a long corridor. The room was clean with an ensuite shower room. The only slight problem I had was that the old sash window had to be propped open with a bit of wood to let the air circulate and keep the room cool. Unfortunately once I closed it, when it was raining, I could no longer open it again so prop it open with the bit of wood! It woudl have take 2 people to be able to do this. The hotel provides free wi fi but this is limited depending on which part of the building your room is in.

Unfortunately when I booked in a coach load of either American or Canadian teenagers had arrived on a school trip. The hotel decided to feed them all in the function suite to save other guests from being bothered by them which was great but unfortunately the adults in charge of them let them run riot throughout the hotel until around 1am. There was nobody checking these kids were in their rooms or beds at a decent time and not disturbning other guests and despite asking them 3 times to keep the noise down, stop slamming fire doors and bedroom doors this went on until 1am. By this point an adult eventually appeared and I had a very heated discussion with him about keeping them under control and keeping the noise levels down and not all guests wanted to hear this and some people were here on business and not for pleasure. Unfortunately this fell on deaf ears. When checking out the following morning, another guest who was on the floor below had the same complaint.

The receptionist listened to our complaints and apologised and said she would pass on the comments to the booking co-ordinator who took the school party booking but in future perhaps some ground rules need to be set to those in charge of large parites on children about keeping them under control and setting a curfew for getting them into their rooms at a decent hour.

Sadly due to thin walls, and lack of cushioning on fire doors, noise levels are very high in this hotel and I wouldnt recommend it to anyone who likes a decent nights sleep!

Room Tip: As for a room away from a fire door!

The hotel looks as though it is in need of modernisation or refurbishment. The dining room ceiling covings were ‘cracked’ in some parts and the room just looked so ‘tired’

However, a very cheerful and helpful Thai waitress made up for the rooms refurbishment needs.
The waitress attended to us very professionally and the Afternoon Tea itself was of a good selection of sandwiches, cakes and scones.

The car park is quite small although we were fortunate to find a space quite easily.

This hotel is well maintained outside and inside, despite being old. It's style is maintained with nice character. When you drive into the car park you are impressed with the location and cleanliness of grounds. The reception area is old but nice, the man on reception was very charming and helpful.

We booked this hotel on an Amazon Local deal, which included breakfast and dinner. The food was excellent and well presented. Service was very slow, there was a coach party in at same time and either the kitchen couldn't cope or there wasn't enough serving staff. I think if the waiters had checked in with the customers in the restaurant and gave them an indication of how long they would wait or check if they needed drinks this would have prevented some being grumpy. The staff were very young and not very confident communicators so this was great, albeit very polite.

The bar was dire, it very slow and barman was struggling to get things to work.

Our room was fine, spacious, clean, and great view. Towels were lovey, nice and fluffy!

Overall we enjoyed our stay and would go back. The views around Bridge of Allan were lovely and there is plenty to do. Well worth a visit.

Room Tip: Staff are friendly and helpful, good local knowledge

We decided to take up a groupon offer of a one night stay with dinner, bubbly and breakfast. The room (15) and bathroom were a bit small and the room was in need of a lick of paint but was comfortable enough. The dining experience was first class. The room itself was big with plenty of light. There was plenty to choose from the menu and the food was delicious. It was busy but the staff were friendly and efficient. We certainly were not aware of anyone being upset with the hotel or facilities. It's well located to visit the attractions in the area.

Bridge of Allan is lovely and driving into the car park I had high hopes, in fact I thought I'd got a bargain. However checked in and realised this hotel is a mixture of old fittings, (some good, most not) and tarted up bits. The bar looked like an eighties wine bar, it was awful, the service was soooo slow. There was a pensioner who asked a glass of wine and 2 pints and it took about 15 minutes. He got so frustrated I was concerned for his health. I ordered a pint and a burger and again it took ages to arrive. The TV in the bar got switched off at 7pm. I asked for it to be switched on as I was the only person in the bar at this stage and the reply was "I'll have to ask". Now I'm no fan of TV's in bars if there is atmosphere and good crack, but I was on my own and once the TV went off the room was like a morgue. My room was at the back and side overlooking a tatty building with broken downpipes and looked like it could fall down. The rooms on the other side have better views. The room was actually ok and the bathroom was good. The Lift is the ancient type with 2 doors to close and oak panelling. It was quaint but tiny. It did work and was one of the good touches. The breakfast was ok, nothing special, it could have come from Tesco's cafe.
