Port Charlotte is a great location to explore as there are some great beaches (Saligo Bay) and some nice remote places such as Portnahaven where after a bite to eat we sat and watched the seals for a while who came up very close out of curiosity. Couple of good restaurants too in the Hotel in Port Charlotte and Yans Kitchen - booking is advised.
The property is very cosy but with space and great views. It felt a world apart from B&B's we had used previously. Will book to come back to Islay and will def be using the Annexe.
Islay Annexe is in a great location for a couple wishing to sample life on Islay. The accommodation is all you need for a stay on the island. The property has eveything you might need and the views of Loch Indaal from the lounge are stunning. We had a most enjoyable stay here and would certainly book it again.
This is a lovely peaceful location without being far from both a pub and a couple of restaurants and a little shop.
Maria's house is the perfect place to spend a quiet and relaxing time on the beautiful island of Islay. The house is very nicely decorated, comfortable, cozy and has everything (and even more) that you need. We well at home immediately and the view is really just awesome!
The kitchen is also very well equipped which we also liked a lot.
Maria is a very welcoming and helpful host and we can only recommend to stay at the house. If we come back to Islay, then for sure to the Annexe!
This is a lovely place to stay. Quiet with great views. Clean and well equipped. Just a 10 min walk from the Port Charlotte hotel where there is good food and live music.
Good stay here. Close to beach, restaurants and distilleries. Good for walking and cycling and genera, sightseeing.
Quiet hillside location just outside Port Charlotte with stunning views across the bay to Bowmore and even beyond to the Paps of Jura. Accommodation adjoining the owner's house is relatively new with all amenities and certainly well appointed for self catering. Good cycling available on quiet although hilly roads. Although there is no secure accommodation available for bikes we felt comfortable leaving them locked together outside because there is little passing traffic and bikes were hidden from view.
Nowhere is too far away with all the distilleries within a 35 minutes drive although some (Bruchladdich, Kilchoman and Bowmore) are much closer. There are several places to eat in Port Charlotte; we tried Yan's Kitchen and were not disappointed with the food although the staff could have been more welcoming. Ardbeg and Kilchoman distilleries both have cafes with plenty of choices but check opening times if considering eating at either.
If visiting Islay again which is very likely then we would certainly look to book this property.
