Staying in Port Charlotte we decided to have a meal at the Port Charlotte Hotel. We have a dog and we appreciate that not all restaurants take dogs so we rang a day ahead and asked the question. A very lovely receptionist assured us that we could not eat in the restaurant or bar, but we were very welcome to eat out side.
We duly turned up next day and my wife took the dog into the outside area whilst I went to the bar to order drinks and get the menu. At the bar I was greeted by a very overly portly gentleman who was extremely verbally aggressive when I asked for a menu for outside. I explained that I had rang the previous day but he was dismissive in the extreme, quoting that they are very busy and no one eats outside. He blamed the dog, and forcefully reiterated there absolutely NO dog policy. I walked out with just drinks to find reserved notices on some of the tables !! Whilst we finished the drinks people were even being served starters.
I can only assume it has a severe No DOG policy and finds them offensive, as stated by the owner in the bar. If you love dogs be very careful or just avoid this place. Not worth going back to.More
