Called here for light lunch after the 3 distilleries walk, discovering this was a community venue. We had super burgers, and huge portion of chips to share. The chef doubled as the waiter on the day. He was lovely and most friendly. After looking at the overpriced menu at Sea Salt, we were delighted we were able to boost a community venture rather than pay for overpriced food. Keep up the good work.

Excellent. Understated and overlooked but not to be underestimated. Excellent meal, served by attentive and entertaining staff.

On our first night on Islay during Feis Ile we were unable to get a table anywhere, so we settled for a takeaway from the quirky Cyber Bistro in the Community Centre.
We weren't disappointed. The food is freshly cooked, reasonably priced and excellent quality - I was expecting oven chips with my fish but was delighted to get real ones.
Well worth a try if you are staying near port Ellen.

Got to go to the cyber bistro. Kids love it and it's good value for islay. The chicken goujon burger was just wrong, however. A very odd texture and taste. We'll be back but hoping the specials are updated first!

We were ready for lunch when all the other places in Port Ellen were done serving, and someone directed us to this off-the-main-drag place, which stays open all afternoon. It's not much on atmosphere, but we had some really decent food here and enjoyed the helpful information our waiter gave us. It's a community center that's frequented by lots of kids, so the cafe doesn't serve alcohol, but you can walk around the block to a grocery store for a bottle and carry it in with you. Good fish and chips with a nice salad, and the sandwich we ordered was fresh and good--and the price can't be beat!
