Stayed at the lodge in Port Ellen, peaceful and sedate island. Had a great time walking in the wild countryside and never felt so relaxed. Comfortable, modern and quaint guest house. Islanders very friendly and wouldn't hesitate to go back

Comfortable, modern, beautifully decorated, friendly, the list is endless for this absolutely fantastic place to stay!
Definitely a five star rating and I cant wait to go back.
Situated on a beautiful part of the island and close to a few of the main distillerys, with some of the rooms having a sea view, I was totally blown away with the whole package and definitely recommended.

Ideally situated on the front of the main crescent bay in Port Ellen. The accommodation has been well thought out to provide a relaxing, informal B&B environment. The building has been renovated to an excellent standard with high quality, high performance fixtures and fittings. Bedrooms are very comfortable and with the additional use of a well appointed communal kitchen makes it a convenient home from home. It is easy to find and its position lends itself to taking a dip in the bay in front and walking, cycling or (if you must) driving to three flagship distilleries. Don the proprietor ensures that you are fully informed regarding the island and Port Ellen in particular and nothing is too much trouble.

Room Tip: All rooms are well appointed from what we saw.

The Lodge is located in the middle of the main street of Port Ellen. About 150 meters from the Ferry Terminal. and a nice walk or short drive from the well known Distilleries. All the famous landmarks are easily reached. To get ideas you can have a look in the hallway where is a huge map of the island and gives a great opportunity to find your destination of the day.

The big surprise is absolutely that behind the doors of a typical old Fishers cottage lies a very modern guesthouse. Everything inside is brand new and modernly decorated. The room has everything you need and of course you have free access to WiFi. Not to forget all the rooms have an En-Suite Bathroom with a nice large "monsoon" shower.

In the morning you will find a great continental+ breakfast. Fresh fruit, an egg, Croissant and a selection of cold meats and (local) cheeses) Further there are a lot of breakfast cereals, Milk, yoghurts and of course plenty of Coffee (Nespresso!) and a big selection of teas.

If you don't feel like to eat in any of the restaurants in the village then you can always buy some food in the nearby supermarket and prepare some things in the kitchen, you can use the crockery or cutlery as you want altogether with the microwave. You can eat in the room, kitchen or when the weather allows in the garden.

The Lodge is a great location for those who prefer the privacy of a hotel but also seek the warmth of a B&B. Here you can have both, you have your privacy if you want but you can also have a nice chat with other guests or Don (the owner) if you fancy a chat or if you need assistance with anything you need.

Came back from Islay a couple of weeks ago having stayed at The Lodge in Port Ellen.
It's in a great location, within a 100 yard radius there is a beautiful beach with great views. two pubs and a lovely little Bistro/Café immediately behind. The accommodation is very modern and Don the owner is very obliging, just don't play boules with him on the beach! Well recommended for a peaceful restful break.

We travelled to Islay for a family wedding and were so lucky to have stayed at The Lodge. It is so comfortable, clean, well equipped and in a peaceful and beautiful part of Islay. Don was away on business when we visited, but he went out of his way to accommodate us and arranged to have a friend look after us. We really enjoyed our stay at The Lodge, thank you Don and Susan!

We had a wonderful time in great accomodation in a magical location . The owner went out of his way to be helpful and nothing was too much trouble . Helpful advice about places to go and things to do and on every occasion he took those extra steps that helped to turn our break into something memorable. High spec and very comfortable . The bonus was the views of the bay and the very convenient eating places .
Thanks for a great holiday
