“Great house for a walking base!”
Reviewed 21 May 2017 for a stay in May 2017

A very well equipped and comfortable house in the wonderful area of Uig. The house was very warm when we arrived and a nice welcome gift to greet us. Beautifully decorated with nice touches of Harris tweed everywhere. Very comfortable beds and good shower. Lovely patio to drink afternoon tea on after our long walks. Excellent information about the area and suggestions for walks.

“Excellent self-catering house!”
Reviewed 9 April 2017 for a stay in March 2017

We were staying in 5 Aird for 4 nights. There is 3 bedrooms, one single, a twin and a double. The kitchen is very large, including a washing machine and all other things you need. The living room is very cosy and offers a TV and DVD player, as well as a fire place. The house was very clean and we were welcomed with some welcome gifts, which was really nice. When the weather is fine you can relax outside on the patio! 5 Aird is situated in a very small village on the west coast of Lewis, in a stunning area as there is many hills and mountains, unlike the other parts of Lewis, which are very flat. There is some nice hiking oppurtunities starting directly from the house. Uig Sands is also very close to Aird, which is a beautiful beach to visit. It takes roughly 50 minutes from Stornoway to reach by car, around 35 minutes to the magnificent standing stones of Callanish. We had a wonderful time and will surely return! Cheers!

Perfectly peaceful and picturesque little village in Lewis. This house is a good base to have a chilled day in or to explore the isles of Harris and Lewis. The house was clean, well equipped with tastefull decor. Lots of extras to make our stay very pleasurable and a few thoughtful gifts left too. The whole island is well worth exploring as it has many breathtakingly beautiful beaches that are as good as the Caribbean, historical sites and peace and quiet. Maureen the owner replies promptly and was very helpful with information for the house and island, thanks.

“Excellent Accommodation, friendly owner and helpers at Aird Uig.”

Really enjoyed the break. Stunning coast line but be prepared for some single track roads, however they did not get in the way of exploring the Island. I think we visited all compass points and included Harris. The house was very well equipped and really cosy particularly with the fire on. As I cook a lot we brought groceries in Stornoway. The kitchen is well equipped and large, great looking out down onto the beach, The local shop is very well appointed and stocking levels good. For those who love the internet it is a little slow, but to be honest this stopped us sitting on the computer in the evening - a refreshing change. Take a SATNAV if you can and get the post codes if possible before you arrive. Worked a treat and removed pressure of map reading. Plan your days out it pays off.

Liked most - Island coast line, accommodation and the fire. Peace and quiet.
Liked least - Oven timer needs replacing. Could be difficult driving in the dark so time your journeys to get back in time and enjoy the cosy house.

“Brilliant holiday and a lovely house.”

We have just had a briliant holiday on the Isle of Lewis staying in 5 Aird Uig. The house is well placed as a base for touring the island and close to some lovely beaches. There is a Community shop and Community Cafe nearby and a newly opened Cafe (Cafe Edge) in the village itself. The house was modern, well equipped (everything we needed including sticks and coal for the fire) and perfect for us (1 adult and 4 children). The outdoor shed was handy for drying off our tent and the kids played football in the yard area. We swam on the beaches every day (regardless of the weather) and would definitely come back to this house again. Communications with Maureen (the owner) were smooth and Katy (the cleaner) was very helpful (offering to post items that I had left behind at the house).

“Exactly what we were looking for in a holiday rental.”

We stayed at 5 Aird Uig for a week in July with our 2 children (7 and 10.) We are frequent visitors to stay with family on the Isle of Lewis so this year decided to take a house in Uig as we love that part of the island so much. The house is very well-equipped, clean and quiet. The views are beautiful. It is a short drive to some lovely beaches. There are a couple of lovely cafes nearby and a well-stocked community shop. Maureen was very helpful and easy to communicate with and Kate, who looks after the house, lives nearby and was available for any help we needed whilst we were there. I would highly recommend this house.

Liked best: Beautiful view.
Liked least: Not much to dislike but if I had to choose I would say that the bathroom is downstairs and bedrooms are upstairs.

We were delighted with the standard of the accommodation. The house was finished to a very high standard and was very comfortable. It felt like a home from home and it was so convenient in having basic store cupboard items available, like sugar for tea.
