Peaceful remote location but only 25 mins from Stornoway on good roads. Close to the famous Callanish Stones (good food at visitor centre), Black House Village at Carloway (a must) and only 1 hour to the Butt of Lewis Lighthouse which is the Islands most northerly point.
Eranca Cottage has every comfort you will need and lovely owners Aggie and Angus treated us like part of the family.
A home from home.
Fantastic cottage and location with wonderful hosts who have made sure you have everything you need in the cottage. Standing stones and black house village are a must to visit and also the scallop shack. Had Lovely meal at the guest house up the road which Angus and Agnes arranged for us. Ideal Base for kayaking and site seeing and the home made cakes on arrival are a real treat! Don't let the weather get you down, the ever changing conditions are one the many things that make the west coast and the Hebrides so beautiful, will be back for sure! Xxx
Excellent accommodation very tastefully fitted throughout. Perfectly situated to explore both Lewis and Harris.
This pristine cottage is located in the hamlet of Breasclete, a short walk from the Callanish Stones. We stayed for a week after a whirlwind musical tour in which my husband performed in 5 different venues in Ireland. We knew we would need a quiet and relaxing place after that and Eranca Cottage was the perfect spot. It is comfortable in every way with the newest kitchen and bath appliances, very comfortable bed and a view from the living room out to the loch with its ever changing vista of color and light.
This island is very rural so you do need a car to be able to see the most interesting things nearby. Angus and Aggie, the owners who live next door, were so kind that they waited up until 11:30 pm on the night we arrived just to be sure we were settled in properly. Many other reviewers have mentioned the perfect baked delights that awaited our arrival. Delicious
The island has such a variety of interesting Iron Age houses and monuments but I want to take a moment to point out the Iron Age stone house at Bosta Beach. It is a remarkable experience because of the fantastic docent, Elizabeth who will recreate for you the feeling of life in those times in that perfectly reconstructed round house complete with peat fire, weavings and tools. Don't miss it.
This cottage is excellent throughout. The owners' property is immediately next door and they are readily available to offer help if this is needed.
The cottage is coated on the edge of a sea loch with stunning views beyond.
I've said it already - there's no need to say more about the many attractions, local or further afield.
First time we have visited the Isle of Lewis. The cottage is modern and well equipped and is located in a quiet and peaceful location and offers excellent views over the sea loch situated at the rear of the garden. The owners are extremely friendly and helpful and the cakes and fresh flowers on arrival was a very pleasant surprise.
The cottage is an excellent base from which to explore the many attractions the island has to offer - including some fantastic beaches, stunning coastlines and historical monuments.
