Centrally located in town. Beautiful old property, with clean, bright and comfortable rooms. Breakfasts were delicious with a huge choice. Dinner both Indian and European menu's were great, in a relaxed atmosphere. Can't fault the staff, who went above and beyond to accommodate us. First time in Stornoway. We Stayed for three nights and would not hesitate to recommend. Thanks for the precious memories. Take an umbrella folks!

Room Tip: Room 11 very peaceful

The staff are lovely but the hotel requires a refurbishment especially of carpets. Their appearance adds greatly to the tired appearance. The shower was not good and there was no fan in the ensuite. The breakfast was tasty but ask for your toast straight away or it will arrive after you are finished. Take a shower cap as they are not supplied.

Room Tip: It was a quiet hotel

I stayed in the County Hotel a few years ago for business and was less than impressed with the experience, I was very apprehensive when I was told I would be staying here again BUT what a transformation!!! The rooms are very clean and comfortable, the food and choice in the restaurant excellent and nice friendly service from the staff. Would definitely stay again when in the area.

Went for lunch, menu pretty average, one of us had the Texan Burger which was served on a rather greasy/oily brioche roll which needed wiping before eating. Also had the chicken tikka wrap which was rather hot for chicken tikka. Did think the half portions were a good idea but think the menu needs to be more varied and interesting. Service satisfactory.

This isnt a great hotel. Might be fine for an overnight but any longer and it starts to great. The room I had was adequate and clean with a newly decorated bathroom (Poor and cheap shower though). Radiator pipes constantly rattled even though the owner said they were off, or it was a ghost...

The rest of ths hotel was very tired with threadbare carpets and dated paintwork. As such there was a distinctive scent that wasnt pleasant. At best a 1 star hotel but not somewhere I would come back to. Shame as the staff were nice. Didnt try any of the food, simlly based on the condition of the premises.
