“Very warm welcome to Lewis”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 May 2014

We were warmly welcomed and very well looked after in an unobtrusive way for our one night stay. As it was a special anniversary, we had asked for some champagne to be provided for our arrival, and this was all laid on just as we asked. Our booking at Digby Chick was checked for us and we were given even given a lift into town. There were plenty of taxis for our return journey, which cost only a few pounds.

We thought that the location was perfect as it was so convenient for the airport and the town, but provided lovely views across the bay from our room, which was tasefully furnished and spotless.

Breakfast (chosen the night before from an extensive menu) was delicious and great advice was given for our next few days, with a phone call made to check whether seats were available for a trip to St Kilda. Without the enouragement of John and Alison, we might not have made that booking (or been too late) and would have missed out on a most amazing experience.

We took ferry over to Stornaway for the weekend. Had read some reviews before going. The ones saying it was too far out of Stornaway didn't bother us as we came in our car. Others said it was a noisy road in front of property. We never heard a thing. We enjoyed the view from our front room. (lovely sea views) The couple who owns it (John & Alison) keep the house immaculate and are happy to help with any advice on recommending restaurants and sites to see. Breakfasts are up with best we have ever had. Fresh well cooked and piping hot. We would highly recommend to anybody

Some people have commented that this b&b is too far out from the town, others that it is on a busy road, but wecouldn'tfault it or the attention we received on our recent visit. We had a lovely room at the back of the house so maybe that is why we weren't affected by the traffic noise. The bed was extremely comfortable and a lot of work has been put in to get the place to this standard. The breakfasts were terrific with excellent choice, very well cooked and presented. Our host seven went to the bother of booking us reservations at one of the better resteraunts in the town. Pricey yes,but well worth it.

We stayed at Braighe House for one night (only, I am afraid). Extremely nice place and very friendly hosts. Delicious cooked breakfast. Would recommend the place to my best friends without hesitation.

We stayed for one night at the ens of a two week holiday and appreciated the high level of service, the quality room and excellent food quality for breakfast. Worth it for a treat and the complimentary port! :)

This was our first visit to Braighe House and it was the perfect base for us on our return visit to the Island in 12 years. It is ideally situated and only a couple of minutes from Stornoway airport. Our room was spacious and spotless with a super view towards The Minch. The owners, John & Alison, were on the mainland while we were over but we were welcomed by their very friendly and hospitable 'deputy' Marina. Breakfast was excellent with varied choices which set us up for the day. (I recommend the home made yoghurt with granola, bananas and honey!!!) We hired a car from Carhire Hebrides from the airport and this was ideal for our Island tours. We had a wonderful three night stay and would have loved to had stayed longer. We highly recommend Braighe House and look forward to a return visit next year!

An enjoyable stay there last weekend. The house is beautiful, the room was very nice, but not quite 5 star. The chairs in the room were a bit uncomfortable - but excellent for hanging jeans and jackets on! Breakfasts are 5+ stars! You could have a 3 course breakfast that will see you through to dinner, almost. And some very tasty options. My only quibble was the early timing of breakfast - 8.30 is the latest (9.30 Sunday). And the tv reception can be a bit dodgy. But minor negatives, more than made up for by the friendly hosts who were so helpful. Would certainly stay here again - highly recommended.

Room Tip: Front rooms have a great view, if the clouds ever lift!
