Recently relocated from its old site in Habost, Ness, this museum showcases the history of the district of Ness in the north of the Isle of Lewis. The focuses are on croft life, the former Decca Station at Eoropie and the strong maritime connections. Museum staff are on hand to answer whatever questions visitors come in with. Many visitors have family connections to Ness, and come to look into their ancestry. The museum has an extensive collection of files on all aspects of local history - including my own personal interest, the First World War.
On my visit, I was warmly welcomed in from a bitterly cold day and could get some lunch, even though it was nearly 2pm. The food was simple but wholesome and generous in helpings.
