“The place to stay!”

Thoroughly recommended. More like staying with friends than a B&B! Nothing is too much trouble and Callum and Jackie were the perfect hosts. Callum is a real mine of information on the local wildlife and area. If I was returning to the area and wanted B&B accomodation I wouldn't hesitate to return here. Oh, and motorbike friendly!!!

We stayed for 2 nights at Oran-Na Mara and could not have been made more welcome by Callum and Jackie.
Accomodation is lovely and has fab comfy beds. Great choices for breakfast all cooked to perfection. There is a guest sitting room with views over the sea. We were lucky with the weather, even managing a swim in the sea, but had it been wet, there was a great collection of books to read - maybe get to that next time.

This immaculate b&b is situated in a lovely, peaceful setting overlooking a bay a short drive from the ferry to Iona. Inside the furnishings and decor are of a very high standard, more like a smart hotel than a b&b. Our room was spacious and looked out over the bay, a most wonderful view. There was seating near the window and a large modern ensuite shower room. Although there is no TV in the bedrooms there is a lounge for residents with a large screen TV and also a very pleasant sun lounge, both of which can be used during the day if the weather is bad, although luckily for us we had good weather. The owners are very friendly and helpful, for instance booking us in for a boat trip to Staffa (highly recommended). Breakfast is taken around a table with other guests, which worked well as we were able to exchange ideas of places to visit. The only slight negative is the lack of choice for vegetarians, no potato cakes, beans, tomatoes or mushrooms. The breakfast form does say to ask if there is anything else but we felt a little awkward about doing so as we didn't want to be any trouble. We ate out at the Argyll Arms in Bunnessan, but preferred the Keel Row in Fionnphort which had a better vegetarian selection.

Room Tip: We had the double room at the front.

We had the best ever breakfast everything fresh and gorgeous and loads of choice.
The room was immaculate and spacious.
The hosts were lovely and very very helpful.
I just wished we could have stayed a few nights but we will def go back and we would def recommend the place to other people.

Nothing much to fault in this place. The owners were exceptionally helpful. Even sang in harmony whilst they cooked our delicious breakfast. Enjoys peaceful views, over to the small isles. Comfortable bed and rooms with attention to detail.

My only quibble is, that we would have liked mushrooms and tomato with our breakfast.
Also, this property has poor sound proofing, so couples shouldn't expect to get up to mischief.

Jakcal, Owner at Oran-na-mara, responded to this review, 23 July 2011
So sorry that the Powells were disappointed with the fact that tomatoes and mushrooms were not automatically served with breakfast. Our varied Breakfast Menu from which guests make their selection, clearly states that 'if there is something missing from your breakfast menu, please ask'. We do our very best to satisfy our guests' requests for breakfast, we have even served avocado with porridge - on request!! We endeavour to provide the very best quality and to ensure this, make our own venison sausages, pork sausages and yoghurt.
Our main reason for not having certain items as standard on our menu is due to the fact that we live on an Island and cannot guarantee to always have quality tomatoes and mushrooms and we would never serve the tinned variety.

We stayed for just four nights but next time we will come for much longer. Everything about this B&B is absolutely first class. The rooms are very comfortable, the use of large Lounge and conservatory an unexpected bonus and the breakfasts delicious. Callum and Jackie are the perfect hosts with every care for their quests. 10/10
