“Hebridean Idyll”
Reviewed 5 July 2013

My wife and I stayed in the B&B for two nights with two friends, we were the only ones staying there at the time. It is located in a beautifully remote part of the world and is the epitome of tranquillity. The guest part of B&B consists of 3 bedrooms, a bathroom and additional toilet. As another reviewer has pointed out, its not en suite but it really is not an issue. There is also a lounge and dining area with a patio window exiting on to a garden and then seemingly infinite moorland. There was always freshly-made cake and biscuits available, which were very tasty. Breakfast was served in this room each day, a hearty cooked breakfast and cereals available. We were looked after throughout the stay by the owner, Helen, who was really friendly and made us feel right at home.
We found the cottage to be ideally located for exploration of the western parts of the island, especially Fionphort. We were also five minutes drive from a beautiful beach on the south coast of the island.

Stayed two nights here. Lovely B&B: delicious food (AND home baking!!)

Very comfortable room, lots of space. Guest lounge has a lovely log fire.

No en-suite, but with only three rooms, you just get up early.

Nothing was too much trouble for Helen.

If you like a quiet getaway, this is the place: there’s no TV/mobile/wireless signal.

This B&B is quite hard to find but very nice. The owner is a lovely lady, very attentive and caring. She had cooked a cake and some biscuits for our arrival, something we did really appreciate after a long car trip.
The house is clean and the room very comfortable and nice. It was a bit cold though and the toilet made a funny noise after pulling the chain.
The best thing was with no doubt the wonderful and tasty cooked breakfast. We agreed that it was the best breakfast we had eaten since the beginning of the trip.
So for anyone looking for a peaceful place in Mull, I do strongly recommend Newcrofts.
Enjoy it!

I chose the Newcrofts due to its convenient location near Fionport as I was planning to take the first ferry to Iona. It is 10-15 minutes by car from Fionport and 5 mins from Bunessan where you can find a place for dinner. Also it is close to the Ardalanish bay - one of the most beautiful beaches on Mull. The price was also very reasonable even it was Easter weekend.
There are three bedrooms for guests: double, twin and single. Rooms are spacious and clean with open views and comfortable beds covered with high quality linen.
The cosy sitting room with comfy sofas full of warmth from lightly crackled fire in the fireplace was the best way to finish a long day on the Isle of Mull. Helen was very welcoming and even prepared a very tasty cake. I am very happy that I found this place. It definitely added additional charm to my trip to the Isle of Mull.

Newcrofts B&B is an important part of our enchantment with the Isle of Mull. The facilities are impeccably clean. The room, comfortable. The hostess, Helen, garrulous and a good source of information. The best feature is the guest sitting room. A sliding glass door allows for an uninterrupted view of the landscape - and of Bobby, a Highland bull orphan roaming freely in the yard. The fireplace (where Helen lit a fire for us in the evening) was wekcome both for heat at the end of damp, cool days and for the "you are safe here" atmosphere it created. The village of Bunessan, where meals are available at the Argyll Arms Hotel, is a short walk or drive away. The Ardalanish Weaving Mill is another short drive and the walk from the mill to Ardalanish Bay left us speechless. The ferry at Fionnphort to Iona is a fifteen minute drive from Newcrofts. My sister and I are middle-aged American urbanites who fell in love with Mull.
