“Fantastic 6 course taster menu”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 May 2014

My husband and I were celebrating because it's 40 years since we first met and we were certainly not disappointed with the customer service or food at this hotel. We have visited Mull before but this was our first time at this hotel. Our room was a fair distance from reception and it was a little bit dated and tired as others have commented, but everything was spotlessly clean, the bed was large and comfortable and we had plenty tea, coffee and biscuits. The 6 course taster menu in the evening was excellent and breakfast was delicious. The self-service buffet had a good choice of hot cooked foods. There were no cold meats or cheeses on offer but as were only staying a couple of days this didn't matter too much. Customer service was excellent. We will definitely come back to this hotel. can't comment on spa or pool as we didn't have time to use these.

Restaurant: only 5 course menu (3 course till last year). Bar meals less than average and you have to sit on a coffee table in the lounge. WIFI only in the lounge and very slow. Breakfast is abuffet and is OK but staff is hopeless. Rooms very basic, no TV reception. The only good thing about it is the location.

Room Tip: If you have to stay here, take a room with a sea vieuw.

Stayed at this hotel at the start of May for a weekend in family room which was very spacious and had everything that we needed including lots of towels. We ate at the hotel and the food was lovely and well presented. Dining room staff were very attentive and efficient and catered to our every need. We used the pool and spa facilities and were able to use the hotels noodles and floats for the children which was great fun for them. Overall hotel was very clean and staff very friendly and we could not fault it. Will definitely recommend this hotel. We fully intend to come back sometime.

Had a great stay here, although the hotel is slightly dated and a bit tired, the views from the lounge areas and dining room are fabulous.
The rooms are clean and well appointed, plenty of tea and coffee too.
Food is very good, staff are friendly and helpful, leisure club is great, although the outdoor jacuzzi is not for the faint hearted .
All in all, had a very pleasant stay for three days, and when we overslept for breakfast one morning, the manager, Jan, I think, organised a wonderful room breakfast for me and my wife.

We plan a trip to Mull in July for the Highland Games, I will definitely be booking the Isle of Mull Hotel and Spa, although next time I'll request a top floor room which will help me avoid the elephants who were flitting from the room above ours........

Room Tip: Request a top floor room, helps to avoid noise from above

The clue is in the title. You would think that a hotel & spa offered 5 star facilities, with pool, hot tub, jacuzzi, gym, etc. Which it does, however, all very tired and in need of some TLC.
Our room was average, the hot tub did not look as if it had been cleaned out for months, and the service left a lot to be desired. If i had been a foreign tourist I would have been disappointed not to find local Scottish staff working there. We arrived at reception too early to check in (3pm) apparently it is 4pm, and there was no real apology that rooms were still not ready. Breakfast is very good and the view from the room (if you have the upgrade) across the Sound is superb. However, this is not worth the upgrade room price, don't pay it, I didn't

Room Tip: We were in room 4, facing The Sound, fabulous view, best thing about our stay

Booked a two night stay for a peaceful weekend break. Not the most attractive hotel from the front but nice from the back. We paid for a front view which was nice, overlooking the water and the ferry coming and going. Room was nice and bed very comfortable, although we had NO towels until the next day so we're unable to shower in the morning. Ate in restaurant on first night which was a bit hit & miss - worst french onion soup I have ever had. Duck was nice. Ordered bread & butter pudding which was tasteless and covered in custard which I do not like - hubby ordered cheeseboard, cheesecake delivered! Staff were all foreign apart from receptionist when we were checking out. Trying to relax in the bar at night was impossible due to the dreadful music being played over and over. Didn't bother with breakfast on second morning. Would we stay again? Doubtful.

I stayed here for one night towards the end of a conference, and was expecting far far more than was delivered.

The rooms are very average, to be generous. There is some very creative photography on the website, as mine (a single) was barely big enough to open the wardrobe door without hitting the bed (on opposing sides of the room). There was no chair at the desk, but that was okay as the bed was almost near enough to stretch across the room... and the bathroom was very dated.

I was well an truly baffled by some of the procedures in place between the bar, restaurant and reception. In order to place my dinner order, I had to pay for it first at the reception...the order from the restaurant. They were able to take a drinks order, however this had to be charged to my room, or paid for at reception again... are the staff not trusted to handle cash? On ordering a drink it then took nearly ten minutes to arrive, from the bar next door.

None of the staff involved, pleasant as they were, seemed to understand or appreciate why this to and fro-ing was unnecessary. I was increasingly frustrated after one night of this - any more would have been too much.

.Would not recommend.

Room Tip: Book elsewhere.
