This was our fifth visit to the island in so many years but our first stay at Cill-Mhoire. We certainly were not disappointed, the lodge we used was Rowan it was just what we were looking for.
On our arrival our host Andrew introduced us to our accommodation very comprehensively passing on local knowledge, I was impressed not everyone would take the time to do this.
The lodge was very well equipped and spotlessly clean, the upstairs lounge was very comfortable, the views over Dervaig and beyond to the Isle of Coll were amazing.
Andrew and his wife Janet were extremely sociable and I am sure would react very positively to any reasonable request from their guests.
We had a great two weeks based at Cill-Mhoire wildlife is in abundance on this wonderful Island, our hosts were only too pleased to offer advice to make sure our stay was a memorable one. I would recommend Cill-Mhoire to anyone wishing to visit Mull, our stay with Andrew and Janet was great and very good value for money. Our thanks to them both.

We spent ten days here and occupied Rowan Lodge. The location is superb, on the edge of the village which has a comprehensive shop cum post office.. The main town of the island is Tobermory about 8 miles away, however, the road is narrow and bendy with passing places so do allow a good half hour to reach it. The general environment is mountains, an estuary, and views of glorious sunsets.
The accommodation is open plan downstairs are the kitchen-cum-dining area, bedroom, and bathroom - bath and shower, loo etc. The entrance hallway is spacious with room to hang coats.
Upstairs is a lounge, comfortably furnished, numerous power points, satellite TV, disc player, maps and local information.
Services: copious immediate hot water, effective intelligent heating system - the individual heaters around the living areas sample the temperature and each controls how much heat to emit using simple convection from an internal heat exchanger from hot water pumped round the whole system with fan assistance as necessary. The wall thermostat is upstairs and because the accommodation is fairly open plan the upper floor is always warmer. Andrew, our very charming and efficient host will advise on how best to use the system and can adjust the relative contribution of the individual heaters. The system uses a heat pump and together with very efficient insulation the whole place is easy to keep warm. The owners recycle waste.
The kitchen has induction hob, cooker, toaster, microwave, fridge-freezer, kettle, the usual utensils crockery and cutlery, and a washing machine. Doubtless Andrew and Janet might be able to tumble dry clothing if the weather so dictates.
Any suggestions for improvement? I think the owners have just about covered all the angles. However, when they come to renew any items or refurbish I would suggest they could consider a better mattress and provision of larger thicker bath towels.
So all in all, a very agreeable stay, well supported by Andrew and Janet who also have a wealth of local knowledge. I would strongly recommend Cill-Mhoire Lodges and would come again. It's a gem.
Thank you for your full and comprehensive review, we are delighted that you enjoyed your stay. We will bear in mind your appreciated comments about the mattress and towels when the time comes to renew. Best regards, Andrew & Janet Stevens
We took 17 members of the University of St Andrews Triathlon Club and had an absolutely amazing time. The island is stunning and the lodges were brilliant. They had everything we needed and more, very modern, warm and comfy. We couldn't quite believe how good it was for the price. Plenty of space to store our bikes and do our early morning circuits sessions! Andrew and Janet were so lovely and helpful - we will definitely be back!

Just back from a first time trip to Mull. Lucky enough to have chosen the Sycamore lodge for the week - what a wonderful base from which to see the island. Arrived to be met by great hosts in Andrew and Janet - given full introduction to the property and the area - this was further enhanced by local knowledge over the course of the stay, which allowed us to see much more than we would have otherwise. The lodge itself was spotless and had every amenity you could wish for - my wife enjoys cooking and although we did eat out on occasion she was delighted with the kitchen facilities. The upstairs lounge was extremely comfortable and well laid out with freesat, dvd and music player. With the addition of wifi access it meets all the needs of modern technology. However, as the island is beautiful don't spend too much time enjoying them! As Rosie the labrador was with us, it was great she was well received to. If you get the chance to join in Andrew's pub quiz night at The Bellachroy Hotel - take it and enjoy the fun. All in all a 5 star performance - we will return. Thanks Andrew and Janet.
Thank you for your excellent review and for taking the time to write it. Janet and I are delighted that you enjoyed your stay, we are clearly doing something right!
We stayed a mere three days but thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and were constantly impressed with every aspect of our short visit. As architecture students we are more fussy than most about accommodation but Sycamore is the best self catering lodge we have encountered to date. During the day it felt spacious and light and at night warm and cozy romantic even. The decor is tasteful and everything was so thoroughly well kept it felt brand new. It's also brilliantly well equipped to the extent we could have happily spent the whole time indoors but with views that tempting we would have be mad to do so. The Island is of course stunningly beautiful and even in late February the sun was shining, see the photos below as proof! Andrew and Janet were friendly, relaxed and extremely helpful ensuring an enjoyable and hassle free stay. We traveled from Glasgow by bus (3 in fact) and as foot passengers on the ferry which although a long journey at 6hrs+ was filled with spectacular scenery so it can be done but I really would recommend a bike or car if you want to explore properly. Hopefully our fist visit will be one of many.
Thank you for taking the time to review Sycamore Lodge, Janet and I are delighted that you enjoyed your stay. We have clearly achieved what we set out to do, that is to ensure all our guests enjoy their stay and want to come back. Thank you for your great review!
