We signed up for the "Beaches, Birds and Butterflies Walk" largely because I raise butterflies as a hobby. Stuart and Ruth met us at our B&B and off we drove to our adventure on a beautiful Mull morning. The walk was at an easy pace with no physically challenging terrain to overcome. At the time my wife was experiencing some health issues that limited her strength and endurance. She had no problems keeping up the whole walk which turned out the be about seven hours. I believe normally the walks do not last as long, but we kept discovering new things that held our attention for more time than our guides had scheduled. Nonetheless our little group of four clients plus the guides never grew bored with the experience. Early in the walk we discovered a brand new colony of the Slender Scotch Burnet moths. At one point we were in a field of moths that were so plentiful we had to walk very very carefully to avoid stepping on them. We ate a delicious home made lunch on a beautiful little beach and I cannot leave out the great array of birds we encountered. As the day went on we found ourselves learning to carefully observe everything around us for subtle signs of the abundant living creatures in those Mull fields. I chuckled at the sight of a group of middle aged adults crawling around on their hands and knees, face down in the grass looking for moths. We will be back to Mull and we will eventually take every walk and tour Mull Magic offers.
