If you are wanting a trip make sure you visit the TIC by the pier early in the day- certainly if a cruise ship appears on the horizon. We enjoyed our time visiting the waterfront but only because there were no trips left to the outlying areas and no taxis either. The colourful waterfront kept us happily entertained for several hours. Of particular interest were the Tobermory Distillery and Shop; the Museum, : the craft centre in an old church, various shops selling island goods such as the very aromatic soap shop , artisan bakers, and various heritage outlets. In better weather a walk beyond the waterfront , alongside the sea to the lighthouse would have been a pleasant addition.
