Description: The best Mull has to offer - at a reasonable price.Dining at The Tobermory Hotel has changed. All of us are looking for quality at a reasonable price. The Island Diner offers just that. Still using the best of Mull produce, prepared from fresh and cooked in her own kitchen, Chef Helen Swinbanks has created an exciting new menu. There may be an American influence but the emphasis is on Scotland and the Isle of Mull in particular and the chips are very much traditional Scottish, NOT ‘Fries’.Gourmet Burgers include the pure Island beef “Island Burger” and the Mull Wild Venison Burger. Or try a Caesar Salad with Isle of Mull scallops or a Diner Sandwich with local free range pork. Watch out for specials in which seafood will feature strongly. Helen has also given in to her love of ice cream and is presenting a range of her own home made flavours. Fancy a Tobermory Malt Whisky Custard or a Gaelic Coffee and Chocolate flavour?

Booked the Restaurant for our wedding dinner and it was the perfect choice. Despite the fact that everything was arranged over phone and Email only, it was very well organized by Andy and Ian. Chef Helen has shown what perfection means when it came to food. The quality was impacable as all sourced locally. The lamb soft and tender and in combination with a goats cheese pastry (normally don't like it) it was simply amazing. The steak didn't need a knife. Impressive. Staff was very friendly and really looked after us. If I would give away stars....have one.

This is technically a hotel restaurant (part of the Tobermory Hotel) but don't let that put you off. I've eaten here several times and the food is invariably excellent and almost all of it is sourced locally. It varies seasonally but usually features fresh fish/ seafood, local lamb and pork and whatever's doing at the nearby cheese farm which is always worth trying either as a component of a meal or a cheese course. There is a carefully assembled wine list and a good range of whiskies.

If you stay here you also get the pleasure of a breakfast in the place which is of the same high standard and not just the usual bacon'n'egg fest either. While not inexpensive, it's good value for what's on offer. There is also a pleasant lounge for aperitifs/ digestifs.
